2023 Idea

Team: 2022-23 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: May 22, 2022
Published: May 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Additions by subtraction with Radulov and Suter opening holes for Harley and Borque.

Huge wins if we are able to sign all three of Klingberg, Robo, and Otter. I think Oetter may take more than 3.5 but who knows, we could get lucky and get to bridge him. Klingberg I think signs for around 7 million per year for a couple years to try and get his value up around 8 million in 2024. He had a down year and 32 is still young enough to get a high value 4 year deal.

The rest (Namestnikov, Raffl, Subban) I am not too hung up on but we have to maximize cap where we can.

We could save cap or max out Robo instead of signing Raffl and Namestnikov. And bring up Dellandrea and Damiani.

I want to see a solid RHD, who isn’t completely inept transitioning the puck to an offensive rush, paired with Heiskenen. Hopefully we can sign one for 3.5 million. I do not care if it is Subban, thought after his rough couple of seasons, maybe he can turn it around on a low value contract. But I would be happy with *a smart, mobile, capable RHD. Let Heiskanen Rover and this partner can cover, but should be respected enough to lug the puck if need be.

Jordie Benn signed to try and maximize the value of Jamie. Maybe jordie can help reinvigorate his passion for the game.

In 2024/25 we have Wyatt Johnston, Stankhoven, Tufte, Stranges all who project to be full time NHLers.

Am I crazy? Lmk your thoughts!

PK isn’t a top pair guy any more. Zero chance Suter waives for Zona

I didn’t realize he has a form of a NMC. Either way, whether we buy him out or trade him, I want him gone.

And l hear you on PK, who would you pair with Heiskenen?

Buying Suter out hurts the Stars more than it benefits them.

How do you see it this way? Have you read or heard the recent comments from Arnott?

Billy Guerin bought out Suter precisely because he is a malcontent in the locker room, and doesn’t add value that offsets the bad vibes he creates. He also requires to play on particular sides and situations, while he doesn’t have the wheels, shot, or physicality needed to play top4 and PP minutes he demands.

Suter gone creates an additional 2.5 million in cap space which alone would be enough (added to his current cap hit of 4.25 million) to sign Klinger after his poor season.

Also his absence gives opportunity to Harley. I see Suter’s departure benefitting the stars in multiple ways. But I would like to hear your reasons behind your opinion.

Nah, you're completely right on that one. Suter is a nuisance to this team, and should be gotten rid of this offseason.
