I'd love to keep Fiala but Guerin has mad up his mind, Fiala will be traded this offseason.

I just think the cap just illustrates that Fiala has to be moved. 21 man rosters don't work. And Dumba M NTC comes into play. Who wants to give up much without sending cap back the the Wild?

Guerin has made it clear he's not keeping fiala and will keep dumba. So both deals aren't needed; goid. Freddy is an okay to good cheap C. Dumba has more value than that. He's also probably not waiving considering dumba just bought a home in eag8

We could have kept him, but Guerin shot himself in his own foot (intentionally) by extending Goligoski and Greenway and trading for Jost. Had he not done that, and instead traded Dumba, we could have kept him. Guerin's media comments made it pretty clear he would rather have Dumba than Fiala.

As for your last comment, I think you're referring to Fiala, it sounds like Ottawa has wanted Fiala for years according to our beat writer so they are definitely a team to watch. They have tons of cap space and I think they have the pieces to get a deal done if they're willing to part with either the 7th overall pick or Shane Pinto. Friedman has mentioned LA which makes some sense but they would probably have to send us a bit of cap coming back (maybe adding Vilardi as a piece would fix that) - we could take on a little cap but not much more than a few million and it couldn't be a cap dump player. Anaheim makes a ton of sense to me and they've been big game hunting the past few years (PLD, Eichel, Laine, etc.). They also probably have the pieces to get a deal done with the 10th pick and a bunch of good prospects. New Jersey makes sense as well, though I don't see them moving the pieces we should be seeking as pieces in a Fiala trade (Holtz, Mercer, 2nd OA). I have a feeling they'd offer something like Boqvist and their 2nd which I don't really like. I'd be somewhat interested in Sharangovich but I don't think he'll ever be the player Fiala is. Columbus is a dark horse team to me, they have a ton of cap space along with two high picks in the draft this year. I don't think it would be the wisest choice for them to trade for him, but Jarmo has been known to be bold so it wouldn't surprise me if he accelerated their rebuild and made a move like that.

Those five teams are the most likely trade partners IMO and all of them have enough flexibility to find ways to fit him into their cap. There's a few others that I could see having interest but would be surprised if they pulled the trigger for various reasons (Sabres, Islanders, Wings, Coyotes, Kraken).

Agree with your detailed analysis above.

IMO, it's Ottawa that should make the move. They have cap and prospect. Time to hit a home run. (with Fiala). The East is very competitive, and with even Buffalo on the rise, the Sens have to get better.

As I have said before on CF, the trade competition for high priced players are UFAs. I wouldn't expect much more than the Ottawa's seventh overall for a signed Fiala...let's say. 8m X. 6 years. If the trade price is too high, the Sens (or other teams with cap) can sign UFAs...as their just might be more UFAs looking for homes, cause so many teams are cap strapped.
