Might as well rebuild if that's what the roster is going to look like.

Why did you feel compelled to include the $25,175 retention?

You might as well rebuild with what the Penguins currently have.

Their window for winning the Stanley Cup during Crosby's playing career closed a while ago.

    IDK

To make it an even 4 million on Pettersson.

Why did Pettersson need an extra 25,175 per year anyway?

100% Wrong. The ability for them to carry teams on their backs certainly isn't realistic anymore, but they're both still playing at a very high level and still amongst some of the best players in the league. Proper asset management can build this team into a contender for the next year or two. That's not an easy task by any stretch, but it's possible if done properly.

    Keep: Geno($7M), Letang($8M) and Rakell($4.5M)
    Remove: McGinn, Dumoulin and Zucker

Do those things, you can properly fill out the lineup with fresh faces. There's enough out there that can fit their budget to where if they do the above they can add a top six and a third liner.

Guerin would also rather have guys like Goligoski, Merrill and Kulikov as opposed to Fiala.

Once he trades Fiala for a 2nd and a mid-tier prospect, he's still going to be GM at the end of the day, like you said.

Also, Jost can play either position at forward and Pittsburgh doesn't need any help at center.

Why do the Sabres not want a free draft pick and to get closer to hitting the cap floor?

People keep asking why Geno isn't putting up as many points, then you realize it is because year after year after year after year he has to play with the same crap on his wings. If you are going to put these 4th liners with Geno again this year you might as well just let Geno walk and start the rebuild.

Nothing's going to happen to Crosby, Malkin or Letang until the Penguins start missing the playoffs.

They haven't missed the playoffs since Crosby's rookie season.

Also, Heinen and Kapanen is not exactly "4th line crap".

Really? It's a garbage pick and it's at a position we don't need help at.

Nobody ever "needs help" hitting the cap floor

    1. If it's a garbage pick, why did you acquire one along with Butcher for future considerations?

Positional need had no relevance in the Butcher trade and it doesn't have any relevance in this trade for Moore.

    2. Also, I'm curious about your plan for spending 20 million to hit the floor.

    I'm sure it's amazing.

    That doesn't make any sense.

You're basically implying Minnesota can't trade for Zucker or anybody else for that matter if they don't play centre.

What's the point then of trading for Fleury, Middleton, Deslauriers, etc if they don't play centre?

Jost is a 4th line centre in Minnesota, so it's not like you're losing anything significant.

Well we need a goalie, olofsson needs a raise, probably could use a RIGHT handed d that I'm sure we could overpay. I think we're gonna be OK. No point doling out charity just because it's convenient. Try arizona, they're usually good for that crap.

I have no idea why they brought in Butcher. He was the worst player on the ice whenever he went over the boards. At a position where we didn't need help.

I guess what I am trying to say is why would Guerin who traded Zucker wanted him again? Zucker isn't goid and essentially a one trick pony.
