1 year of the Lucic deal isn't worth a potential top-4 defenseman to you? When Detroit previously took on Marc Staal's similarly expensive deal for just a second rounder?

Again the Red Wings are in no shortage of quality D prospects. Edvinsson, Johansson and Wallinder are on the way. No need to take cap dumps. Sunny was brought in to add some size and toughness. No need to trade him.

Right, but the size and toughness Sundqvist brings is replaced by a year of Lucic (to get the B+/A- prospect in Poirier) and then Zac Jones can slide in as an immediately NHL ready prospect so that all of the guys you name are afforded the proper time to develop on North American ice. It's not like the Red Wings are so stacked on the left side (in terms of *NHL-ready* options) to turn their nose up at a great young D like Jones.

Sunny is 5 years younger than Lucic and I don't view him as a rental. I just can't see Stevie making this trade.

That's not unreasonable, the way I see it is just that with the phase the Red Wings are in, the difference between Oskar Sundqvist and Milan Lucic can't be what stops you from getting a prospect like Poirier.

If Poirer is so good then WHY is Calgary trading him?

Sorry, but Lucic is a problem in a young rebuilding franchise. His antics over the years show that he has problems and I for one want nothing to due with him, as long as Wings are a young team.

Because they want the cap space to make moves to win a Stanley Cup before Darryl Sutter retires, win now teams trade good prospects sometimes, to clear over $5MM in a very important offseason is worth it.

The point is moot, Milan Lucic isn't waiving for Detroit. So no reason to even carry this on any further.

Ah I didn't realize that you were his agent and knew his exact preferences on where to play, my bad

Both Edvinsson and Johansson are a lot closer to playing in the NHL than Poirier is, all he'd do is add to the logjam we have on LD when it comes to prospects. Currently we have eight LD 23 years or younger in Juolevi, McIsaac, Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder, Buium, Viro, and Sebrango. Poirier holds very little value to Detroit.
