Description
Bread and Butter 1st line + Krieder. Give Kreider the summer to adjust to RW. Kid line as the 2nd line. Very Deep down the center. The 3rd line can be used similar to how Carolina uses its 3rd line. As a shut down Defense line, although I think ours would have a lot more scoring potential. Still have Nils to trade if needed at the deadline, Robertson could be an option to be a 3LD if Jones isnt ready, or we want to play heavier. I might be reaching with the Nemeth trade, but its not awful for Seattle when only giving up a late 4th, Francis gets a player he once drafted and has some skill, just hasnt been able to put it together in New York. Gauthier has enough value to get someone to take Nemeth’s contract off our hands, and even if we get less back in a trade, its a win. If Seattle is on Nemeths limited NTC, maybe Montreal, although theyre light on cap space. Regardless, Nemeth can be moved pretty easily. Even if we had to keep Gaultier and add in a late round pick instead. The Backup goalie situation is a bit tougher. Not much on the market and not much money, I’d think Allaire would prefer someone that he’s worked with for a bit. Huska fits that role imo. Although, we need someone who can play 35 games in net.

Kids are messing with there reason or ability to sign copp. I’m starting to question if copp could be a luxury that they can’t afford going forward. Might have to buy low and let kids fill in the bottom 6.

Good team but it looks like they won't be able to sign Lafreniere, Miller, or even Chytil with decent raises likely for all of them. The only way this roster could work would be to sign Copp and Motte to one year deals, which could happen since the rags are so close to the cup this year, but likely won't happen with better offers from other teams. Or they could trade one of their big contracts in the offseason.

Copp and motte probably scooped by other teams, kind of similar on how goodrow got to ny. Some team controlled players going to have to fill some roles.

I wouldn't change what works...
Kreider- play LW w/ Zibs...big part of his game is his ability (due to left shot) to take passes at full speed and streak up the left.
Kids- keep that trio together...their skillsets compliment each other so that as a unit they are tough to play against

Go something like:
Kreid- Zib- Copp
LaF- Chytl- Kakko
Pan- 3C- Krav (or Pajuniemi)
Motte- Goodrow- Blais
Hunt

Of course 3C is the unknown...could be Copp- if Vatrano can be signed for 1RW...or maybe Namestikov? Also a few other UFAs that can slot in there that they wouldn't have to break the bank for.

Would need more CAP to do this...Reaves gotta go. Also might be the time to move Lindgren.

Yeah, long term, Drury would have some extremely tough calls to make. The flat cap really hurt the rebuild. Cap wouldve been closer to $90 million this offseason rather than $82.5. Maybe we forgo signing Coppe and keep someone like Rooney to play the bottom line. And if Motte is too expensive, they could try and replace him with a different player. The issue isnt that the Rangers have bad contracts, its that theyre overpaying a couple guys by a million or two, coupled with the flat cap. Cant pay a guy like Goody 3.6 when the cap is only being raised 1 million and was flat for the past 2. Drury is gonna have to really prove his worth.

Unless Copp commands north of 6M, they have to extend him. He's a top 6 "swiss army knife" who can play in all positions- so he is priority #1...all other decisions should be made after the Copp signing. I don't WANT to move Lindgren or Miller. Nor do I want to forego extending Vatrano or Motte. But to lock down 2C for years to come is more important than any of these guys. Moving Lindgren would free up $ right now- and would be a sell high move. Moving Miller would bring back big time assets and solve a CAP issue before it becomes an issue. Vatrano and Motte- both are luxuries...if either or both can be extended- great. Otherwise cheaper alternatives will be available- maybe from within.
