I think we see Skinner a lot during the regular season, take a look see at what the Smith fall-off is like by the TDL and grab some insurance if Smith/Skinner aint up to snuff (like what MIN did with MAF).

Personally I think we're at the point where we separate the wheat from the chaff. Sure, development of prospects is good, but unless it's a blue-chip (Holloway, Broberg, etc) or in short supply (Niemo, Skinner) we need to now grab complimentary players and deadline rentals while our championship window is completely open.

For example: I absolutely love Puljujarvi and Yamo, but why force it when we could get more out of a lesser paid, lesser skilled, but more complimentary piece(s)? They're gonna cost ~3-4M EACH -OR- you trade them for an already established grindy, defensive-minded, fast-skating playoff performer or two (or three, for that money).

i think next year could be samorukovs coming out party. the guy had a injury plagued season but his second half in the AHL was very strong, if anyone can work magic with him its manson.

I think Edmonton could do better in a deal for Barrie than that, not with Seattle, imo, but someone could use PPQB
