Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Foote, Cal
Additional Details:
Montréal adds another piece to their RD pipeline. Tampa brings back Anton Stralman on a one-year, league-minimum deal.
TBL
  1. Poehling, Ryan
Additional Details:
Decent forward who exceeded expectations given his poor linemates and deployment. I think he could flourish with more skilled forwards in Tampa's middle-six.
2.
MTL
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (DAL)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Petry, Jeff ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
To some team he'd waive to for a pair of 2nds or a 2nd + an equivalent prospect (Damiani or Dellandrea if it's Dallas).
3.
MTL
  1. 2022 5th round pick (NSH)
NSH
  1. Hoffman, Mike
Additional Details:
Any team looking for depth scoring for a late pick. It can be a buyout if there are no buyers - Hoffman just doesn't fit in future plans.

Curious on your take on this: But when does it become too much draft capital?

I realize most players will still be in junior/euro leagues/ahl developing but I look at a team like LAK who seem to have an overabundance of prospects who are starting to maybe not meet expectations or don't have a roster spot to fully reach their potentials.

Yes picks/prospects can then be moved for more established players when MTL is ready to compete but IMO having too many in the system can hurt their development.

Is it better to have just a bunch of prospects cause you never know who will pop or is too many a bad thing?

I never noticed it before you pointed it out. Fortunately, the Habs seem more invested than ever in scouting/development (couldn't be any worse than it was). I think they might use the abundance of picks to give them the flexibility to sacrifice picks and trade up if there's a prospect they really like.

yeah no thanks on trading Foote Stralman was getting pretty awful when TB didn't resign him so getting him now would be a really bad idea unless its an AHL Sustjr type thing from last year. under Yzerman/JBB they don't trade defensemen and not get one back (DeAngelo the exception) that was a we want him gone thing.

Stars probably declines. Ultimately I don't see much sense in having two 35+ years old D-men signed long-term - just too risky.

Suter signing long-term was a terrible mistake, and I'm afraid trading for Petry will become one of those too.

Also think Tampa would rather keep Foote. Their RHD pool is much worse than forward pool, so Foote is an key asset for them.
