Description
Line up might come off as weird but hear me out.... Capitals use high end wingers to help out the younger centers... if HL struggles we can move Schmaltz to 2c and bump CMM to 3c or try Protas at 3c or even move Zacha to 3c. lots of options. my goal is to be in a playoff spot when Wilson is back. Wilson should be back by Feb maybe do a Kucherov type thing and get a high end player at the deadline.
Kulak is a Kempny / Orpik type defender that will allow Carlson to focus more on the offensive side of the puck. Kulak looked amazing in the playoffs and will take a lot of pressure of MF who imo wasnt ready for top pairing minutes

Nichushkin is a great top 6 talent ... imo Avs make him a priority in the off season... so if we want him we'll have to offer a lot.

Capitals should aim to get a starting goalie but lets give Sammy one more chance... give him a solid vet backup

I'd probably rather use the trade capital to get a veteran goalie like Gibson than Schmaltz.

imo Gibson is pretty average and he tends to get glorified bc of how good he was like 4 years ago

He could definitely be average, but I wonder if he got a shot on a better team if he'd perform better. Obviously, you can still put up good numbers on a bad team, but he faced the 7th most high danger shots against this regular season.

I think ideally, Quick probably makes the most sense with the timeline to me, but idk. I'm super curious what GMBM does this off-season.

honestly i think Sammy could be a very very good goalie... he just needs to work on his basics. Capitals need to invest in a high end goalie coach like Korn. guys like that make goalies like Holtby go from average to Vez winning caliber.

I think they should hold onto Sammy unless the trade value between him and VV are too good to pass up. Regardless of the direction they go in, they absolutely need to get a new goalie coach in, but since Blaine Forsythe continues to be employed by this team, I'm not so sure it happens lol
