The trade is Muzzin for Puljujarvi.

Arizona retains of Muzzin and keeps Kassian. For which they get Roni Hirvonen and a 2nd.

Idk about that trade from the Leafs perspective. Hirvonen, Muzzin, and a 2nd for Pulju isn’t bad if you look at Muzzin’s contract situation, but I think Muzzin could fetch a fairly solid return given his play in the playoffs + his reputation. He makes similar to Keith and even when he’s at his worst like he was when partially injured this regular season, he is still better than Keith is (plus younger)

But why would the Leafs pay up to retain salary for a player they aren’t getting??

Agreed about Muzzin bet you could get a late 1st rounder for him. Kinda feel like he could go to Buffalo to help teach their young D men and he gets to stay close to home but don’t think Buffalo would give you a first for him

Just sharing the cost with Oilers. You can change Hirvonen to Abramov or someone less valuable.

Friedman says Leafs are not qualifying Kase. In this scenario, he's signed as a UFA.
