<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMarch</b></div><div>Yeah, buying him out isn't an option. It doesn't cut enough cap space for them to do anything (still carry 1.5M for 4 years). TOR's window is now, they need to plug their major holes this season, or next year will probably be Matthew's last in TOR, kicking off a major rebuild. They need to sign 4 Fs, 2 D, and a G, and all those guys need to move the needle, so they won't be doing much plugging in with prospects. They need $12M just to keep the same team out on the ice next year and have only ~$7.8M. They can get to $11.6M trading Mrazek, or $9.3M buying him out. Mrazek does have a modified NTC (10 teams), so it would be interesting to see who's on that list.
Not only do I expect Mrazek to be moved, I think you could see another contract or two go as well (Nylander, Muzzin, Kerfoot are all prime candidates. I would try to move Taveres myself, but that's a huge hit that the production doesn't match).</div></div>
The buyout cap hit is 1, 0.8, 1.4, 1.4.
Tell me again how a $1M dead cap hit this season is unsurvivable.

Kerfoot is 50 point forward with a $750k salary.
All Arizona is doing here is transferring it's picks to next season because his price will be high at the deadline, especially with 50% retained.

Just sharing the cost with Oilers. You can change Hirvonen to Abramov or someone less valuable.

Arizona retains of Muzzin and keeps Kassian. For which they get Roni Hirvonen and a 2nd.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil</b></div><div>Severson is easily better than Holl</div></div>
Sure, but leafs management think Holl is good enough middle pairing defenceman. And Severson isn't a top pair defenceman. So the difference is not enough for them.

Deils 2022 Offseason
You may not agree with it, but Leafs management logic will be that the gap between Holl and Severson isn't great enough to justify such a trade. To them, this will basically mean giving away Nylander for Sharangovich and mid round picks.

They really, really like Rielly. Also, Rielly has never disappointed in the playoffs.
If they really wanted a shakeup, I think it'll happen with someone else.

The Rielly trade is interesting but there are a few issues.
The reason Toronto would trade him is if they can't extend him. So I doubt they would trade him for another rental.
Dougie Hamilton on an 8 year deal probably means about $1M in cap savings. What exactly is that worth? Kerfoot, Hallander and a 2nd. I'm not sure.

Only Eriksson is bad in that deal. Toronto has value for everything else. Vancouver gave up a solid defensive centre, top 5 pick d-man, 1st round pick and a prospect that would probably go top 20 in a 2019 redraft.

Not fair to ignore a 5th overall pick in OJ, the 1st and a great 2nd round prospect in Nils.
