Not too sure about this deal, but Calgary might be in the market for someone to slot into their middle six should Johnny Hockey leave as a UFA. Realistically, Kerfoot gets moved for a comparable player or cap relief in the form of picks.

Yeah I saw that, but leaks rarely come out from the leafs front office. CJs comments sounded more on the speculation side of things, but hey, they could be waiting to see what happens with the Campbell situation before entertaining some conversations.

I know Gibson hasn’t performed all too well in the last 3 years but he still has that pedigree and age on his side. Should be an interesting off season!

I mean, you're over the cap ($82.2ish for the Leafs because of the overages) and you've only got a 20 man roster.

IMO:
-Lilly gets more.
-Kase doesn't take a pay cut.
-You're probably on the right page for AA/Paul, but I don't know how, given the cap complications, that you'd be able to afford both.
-Don't really want to talk about the Ducks trade because it'll start another capfriendly riot.

IMO: If Kase doesn’t take a pay cut, you don’t resign him. The guy has to play one season with more than 62 games.

Oh forsure, this was me just playing around. I read that the leafs might be open to (or at least forced) to carry a ~20 man roster so I’ve been building some different teams (20-22 man rosters) to reflect that!

The Kase deal will be interesting and I could see the argument on both ends. When he’s healthy he produces, but his issue is just that. Maybe some term lowers the AAV but we’ll have to see!

I agree Liljegren gets more but I think the leafs squeeze him a little bit considering:
-Doesn’t have over 100 NHL GP
-No arbitration rights
-Didn’t crack the starting roster for the duration of the first round

Ahahaha the John Gibson banter has been hilarious. I think there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors going on in that front, but he would likely stabilize our increase for the foreseeable future given he has pedigree and age still on his side!

Yeah, I mean, you just non-tender him though, right? In which case he most certainly gets at least what he made last year.

Yeah, squeezing Liljegren on a 1 year deal would be smart...I'd just be curious as to what the comparables are.

I think the Leafs brass will try and use the Dermott deal(s) as a short term comp! But maybe they try and kick him up for even more term at a greater cap hit, knowing what he could be in the future!

Gibson the last 3 seasons save % , .904, .903, .094

Mrazek last 3 seasons before coming to the leafs - .914, .905, .923

do you really want to take a gamble on a goalie who has a cap hit of 6.5 for 4 more years, if Mrazek is going to take a 1st or 2nd to dump imagine what this would cost. its not worth it IMO.

Oh Gibson has certainly had his struggles, I just think goalies are tough to evaluate when their team is subpar defensively. Look at Grubauer in Colorado and then his numbers in Seattle. I think the leafs team and aspirations could definitely help rejuvenate him back to his previous form. It doesn’t help that the goalie market is scarce.

Why do they sign a 3rd line center when they have Kampf? the guy provide he is great at the role, top tear faceoff, PK and was really good in the playoffs.

I don’t know…ask the OP…I’m assuming it has something to do with 2 goals in game 7…

It’s too insulate the team just in case of injury. Im a huge Kampf fan, but he’s also a UFA after this upcoming season and with the current depth, should an injury occur, I don’t think Kampf is a guy who should slot into the top 6.
