Moving on from Sandin isn't something I'm too interested in-- but the Leafs have no choice but to consider something like this depending on the contract value/term for each player.

This trade isn't necessary if Campbell signs for that much, TOR will happily pay him that.

Cant see the Caps going for that Schmaltz trade with the C prospects in the pipeline, but Sandin for VV could be interesting. I don't think he'd make that much for 3 years, but I wouldn't mind a defense looking something like:

Orlov-Jensen
Van Riemsdyk-Carlson
Fehervary-Sandin

so that Feh and Sandin get used to being a pairing for the long term, and Van Riemsdyk can stabilize the erratic play of Carlson.
