Not so sure about that. If they leave Brouwer exposed, maybe. But Brouwer seems like a Brian Burke kind of player so that likely won't happen.

Won't get either i'm afraid. Pens will protect 4 D Letang/Schultz/Maatta/Dumo... Then only 4 F as well, Crosby/Malkin/Kessel/ (then one of: Hagelin/Rust/Hornqvist)

lol you can be sure about it. Ferland is also a Brian Burke type player (he's not our GM though) put up 2 more goals than Brouwer, same amount of points as Brouwer, is 7 years younger than Brouwer, and will likely cost a 3rd against the cap as what Brouwer does. He also hits like a freight train and can fight.

They might swing a a side deal to protect Brouwer somehow, but you can bet Ferland is getting protected.

Pens are not going to lose either to expansion for nothing. I think they will protect 4 D, force Vegas to take Fleury, Hornqvist, or Hagelin

Yeah Holland isn't leaving Abdelkader unprotected, And he already said at his presser. That he wont move picks to shed bad contracts.

That's an interesting theory. I just used the crowd sourced protection lists. In your scenario, they're protecting Rust.

All depends on what they do with Lazar. I mean, they just gave up a second rounder for him, so that's a pretty good hint they'll protect him. Crowd source list has Monahan, 2 of the 3 Ms (Tkachuk is exempt), Gaudreau, Brouwer, Lazar and Bennett.

Or, they can use the 48 hour window prior to the expansion draft to sign one of our UFA's:

Stone, Engelland, Wideman, Versteeg, Bollig, Elliott, Johnson
