I like the Montour move he could be a good pairing with Sanderson, although I hope eventually this year we get to see a Sanderson - Brannstrom pairing because I think they would play off each other great.

I am not a huge fan of moving for Fiala, especially with the 7th this year, when there will be a great winger available at that spot. I just don't think even at 6 years the contract is going to age well and will cause issues when you also need the cap space to sign Stuzle and Sanderson long term, with the Norris contract.

Puljujärvi I would take a gamble on that he could work out as a good top 6 winger to play with Stuzle long term, I don't know if I would go 4 years, however, that would be a very tradable contract if needed.

Is there a reason Ottawa fans aren’t considering reuniting Sanderson and Bernard-Docker at the NHL level? I liked JBD’s game in college.

Ottawa should stockpile assets for a Mathew Thachuck trade. I think dealing for Fiala could be a viable plan b, but I question moving #7 overall for him even if it is fair value.

Because they are both very young players and JDB isn't fully NHL ready. Also, I think with the style of the game both of them play long term they are better off on different pairings. UND did it cause they were their best players.

Yesss I was thinking a Brannstrom-Sanderson pairing would be great too since they can both play right/left but for some reason I don't think DJ likes playing defenceman on their off side I rarely saw Brannstrom playing the right this year.

Keeping the pick is definitely a good option but this team needs to start getting some playoff reps and whoever they draft at 7 probably wont be making an impact for another two years, can't be rebuilding forever. For cap space if the team is willing to spend to the cap ceiling I don't think it should be a problem to resign Stutzle, Pinto, and Sanderson with Fialas contract this team has some very manageable contracts.

Yeah no real reason other than not wanting to rush Bernard-Docker he looked very solid in the AHL this year, could add a little more offence to his game but defensively he's very sound. Sanderson-JBD could definitely be a great pairing for them in the future.

I saw Ottawa when most of their d core was out and I liked what I saw from JBD tbh. I would’ve given him consistent time last year in hopes that he could help Sanderson ease into a top four role.

I think Matthew will make upwards of 10 mil so I don't think the Sens could afford that long term not to mention the absolute haul it would take to trade for him if Calgary is even willing to trade him, I think they let go of Gaudreau before they think of trading Tkachuk.

I don’t disagree, but I think they probably should’ve let Brannstrom and JBD play since this season was a wash anyway.

Garland - 4 more years at 4.9
Konecny - 3 more years at 5.5

Both would be great on the wing with Stuzle or the Norris - Brady line moving Batherson with Stuzle.
I would much rather give up assets like JDB, Thompson, Lodin, Järventie, and 2023 1st to get one of them instead.

I think if he signs a QO he can go right to UFA status. It probably takes 2 1sts, a good young player and two prospects to get him. That being said it may very well be worth it if you can keep ur top 3 centers (Norris, Stutzle and Pinto) intact.

Yes but that would require DJ Smith moving his boyfriend Zaitsev down the lineup.

I’d keep JBD for now cause of his relationship with Sanderson. Thomson is a decent skater but I couldn’t tell u what his ceiling is for the life of me.

Zaitsev would be fine on ur 3rd pair. More of a usage issue than anything else.

He is basically the same player Brannstrom is, but doesn't play both sides.

I like Brannstrom’s game. I actually think he can be a decent defender with the right partner.

Thomson and JBD seem like worst case scenario they can be like DeMelo. Brannstrom reminds me of Samuel Girard… but most people overrate Girard lol

I don't like Konecny too much but Garland would be a really good fit, not sure if Vancouver moves him since he's on a pretty nice contract but if they did they would probably ask for one of JBD/Thomson in return. I really don't want to move either one of them because when staying under the salary cap becomes a concern they will be really important, I can see both of them playing top four minutes with Sanderson and Chabot as their partners especially if Zub decides to test free agency next year and we're forced to let him go (My worst nightmare).

I really like him too he's shown flashes of a top 4 D especially on the PP, I think the biggest thing holding him back is his confidence he's been tossed between the AHL and NHL so many times not to mention the pressure of being traded for a top 5 RW in the league at the time.

I think 90% of Ottawa’s issues are due to coaching. The roster needs work but they did everything they could to to hurt players production and development.

Probably won’t rebound, but he probably could if he was in the right situation.
