Carolina Hurricanes Draft Board

Description
My plan is to make a big board for each team prior to the draft, looking at guys who's abilities would match up well with what the team in question should be looking for on draft night. I'm using my Draft Guide for the rankings, and the goal is to select multiple players within the range of each teams' selections that they should consider. These players are ranked by my ranking numerically, not necessarily who the team should value first, second, third, etc. at that spot (hopefully that makes sense). The plan is to provide explanations for the first round picks for every team, then just provide the list for rounds 2-7, unless the team in question doesn't have a first round selection, in which case I'll provide explanations for their first selection, regardless of round. If you want clarification on a specific player, comment and I'll provide it.

5 Teams done, no it's the Hurricanes' turn. 3 key needs are

Left Defense
Defensive Center
Goalie (To Backup or Platoon with Kochetkov)

Second Round
#60 Overall
2Logo of the New Jersey Devils-My Ranking: #57. Gustafson is a great three-zone player that could be a Jordan Staal replacement down the line. He's a high IQ player with solid playmaking skills and is also good skater. He's a little small at 5'11" and, more importantly, 179 pounds, but Gustafson looks to be a solid middle six center in the future to fill the void that their current captain will eventually leave behind.
3Logo of the Arizona Coyotes-My Ranking: #59. Ronni, like Gustafson, is a solid three-zone center that projects to be a capable middle six option and could eventually fill the Jordan Staal role. Ronni is, however, larger and stronger than my previous pick, although you lose a bit on the floor of the prospect: Ronni is a very raw talent and will need time to develop. Still, another solid future middle six option for a team that will need to address that sooner rather than later.
4Logo of the Seattle Kraken-My Ranking: #60. Thornton would be a great addition to the Canes left side of defense behind Slavin. He's a great defensive defender, and can make great passes to exit the zone. I tend to question is offensive upside, which makes him a rare case due to his smaller frame for a defenseman. But, Thornton should be a solid middle pair defender in the making, and could be exactly the type of player the Hurricanes should be looking for.
5Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-My Ranking: #61. The third of three similar options for the Canes at this pick, Beck is a hard-working, high IQ center that looks to be capable of filling Staal's role in the future. He's got decent size, and is overall very well-rounded. He'll need some time to develop, but Beck could be a good solution to patch a future hole in the Canes lineup.

I think Leinonen would be a solid selection at 60th. The combination of big size and athleticism is very hard to find and Leinonen has exactly that. Could potentially split time with Kochetkov.

That's a healthy franchise. Competitive, with deep prospect pool, without major holes on all levels.
I don't agree with Gustafson, but the description of needs works well for me. (Defensive) center, goalie, that's it. A ton of space for BPAs, including trading up If they need to.

I also think Leinonen could be 1st goalie off the board. But don't expect him to be in NHL right away. He is at the very least 3 years away, more likely even 4-5. There are no shortcuts with goalies.
