-The Oilers give you the younger, more productive forward who can be signed for $3Mish, the cheaper goalie, and throw in a prospect for Josh Anderson's 5x$5.5M anchor and maybe a slightly better goalie? Why would they do this?

-It'll probably cost a 2nd to just dump the rest of Hoffman's contract - you need to add something significant if you want Washington to send out Samsonov.

-We can agree the Weber deal is worth something to Arizona - but you're adding another $6.65M in dead cap sending Drouin & Armia out there. That's gonna lessen the price Arizona pays to absorb the Weber contract - I don't think they should give up much more than a 3rd if they're eating that Armia deal in addition to Weber.

Its not enough for Holloway, alone but Smith is a cap dump, Jesse's value might be far less than we think as the media is reporting that he's done in EDM and we cant afford him in the end as Yamo looks to be their pick over Pool Party to keep.

The problem I have mostly with the trade is that it adds salary where the first goal on the offseason should be to shed salary.

The Oilers have about a 3 year window here with McDrai. They need to be bold kinda like the Canucks last season with OEL. Take on a long contract with an effective player to shed some awful deals

Kassian, Barrie for someone like Gallagher could make sense for both clubs as Habs save cap in their contention window in 3 years while the Oilers shed cap in their window with a player they need on the wing in Gallagher to replace Kane. He wont fit in as well without the speed on McDavid's wing but he's a different kind of player than Evander that adds a lot of versatility to the lineup, same as Hyman.
The Habs value Anderson pretty highly as do GMs around the league so who'd have to pay for the bigger, faster, younger, cheaper winger. Gallagher can be had and they dont need to worry about his deal in 3-4 years when they'll be outside their window with one of McDrai probably leaving

I was gonna delve into why is trade is horrible…
But instead, I’ll simply say,
“Habs fans strike again. Congrats on the utterly ridiculous”

I'm sure habs will take back more salary if needed... yes smith is a dump and allen is a very reliable and cheap backup (you still need a starter) the reason i didn't add any more salary going back to the habs is im not very familiar with who oilers would consider a cap dump (other than smith of course)

It just shows how ignorant you are of the value of webers contract to arizona, armia willbbe a top 6 for them and drouin will get traded for a good pick come trade deadline, if i think back habs should keep him and trade him come trade deadline

The only person ignorant is you my friend. Teams wanting to get rid of cap dumps have to pay! This is not something new. Just like the Isles had to pay Arizona to take Ladd (at least Ladd is playing by the way). To think Armia is a top 6 forward is crazy, he's a solid 3rd liner. If Arizona is trading ANY 1st rounders, they are going to get a young player they can build around. Since they are tanking and rebuilding. Armia is 29 with a 3.5M cap it for a guy the last 2 years has put up 14 pts each year! lol Oh and Arizona should thank you for giving them Drouin who's always hurt or something wrong with him. A FA with a 5.5M cap hit. This is a guy Montreal has tried to trade now for 2 years and there were NO takers.

Please stop. I'm not even a Arizona fan.

Nice, and lazy generalization.

If i can speak your language for a second.

"I'm not sure how any Sabres fans can show their faces here after being hilariously wrong regarding this Eichel trade"

Except we weren’t wrong about the Eichel trade
We want four 1sts, or the value of
Got slightly less
VGK 1st, Tuch worth a 1st, Krebs was their best prospect & worth a 1st, and they gave us a 2nd
So we got three 1sts & a 2nd instead of four 1sts
No big deal there at all

And btw, that trade has been working out GREAT for us
We’re all very happy
