Keith and Smith aren't retiring.
20 man roster and over the cap, great job.
Boston and Winnipeg pass, Both Pastrnak and Hellbuyck get better returns than that.

you need to revisit your trade evaluations. you are actually 1/5. you heavily overvalued barrie, the kassian trade isnt terrible but i think a 2nd is steep. the dumping of klefboms salary is actually a joke, its an LTIR contract its not going to need the world to move. this Travis Sanheim trade is a joke right? you gave up more for sanheim than pasta. that trade is beyond awful yikes. the hellebuyck trade will never have salary retained, especially not 3mil. and the pasta trade simply isnt enough, and why bother when its a 1 and done, no reason to go for expiring contracts that you lose next year.

this roster is 3.1m under cap if Keith retires. and smith has openly stated he's thinking of retiring - and Elliot Friedman reported today that keith and smith have been asked by the team to let them know about there retirement status before july first, meaning keith is thinking too.

but agreed the hellebuyck and pasta trades are bad.

I don't see either retiring.

The Oilers got to the conference final. I think both see next year as an opportunity to go further. Rightly, or wrongly.

I just think both would be crazy to give up that kind of money, But hey if that's what they both want more power to them.

Pens pass. We're looking to move a d-man, not add a 1/2 of one.

keith salary is only 1.5m. hes made 78m in the NHL to date.
smith salary is 2.5m and hes made 55m.

its really nothing that either player is giving up and both are 40 years old. long playoff run takes a toll
