Why were too far away from competing

Created by: Jded

Description
Imo something like this is what it’d take to compete this year (and still just be a fringe playoff team). To me this is why it doesn’t make sense for the ducks to go all out and pick up pieces just yet. It takes too much for this team just to become even somewhat competitive. Lean into the rebuild, trade Gibson, wait until Silf/Henrique are off the books to sign big time free agents and fill the team out. Stack up draft picks and prospects until then

Vancouver passes, They want a young RD for Boeser and you provide them with none.

Filip Forsberg doesn't sign with a rebuilding team. And to play in high taxed California probably cost closer to $10,000,000 per.

Jake Muzzin doesn't waive his full NTC for a rebuilding club either.

#10 pick and 2 2nd doesn't move you up to the #5 pick, Detroit could offer far better than that.

I don't like the Boeser deal, the 2022 second is enough for the Philadelphia deal, and the Muzzin idea is horrible.

I think this is kinda the point. My argument is the ducks should lean into a rebuild and not be trying to compete because they’re missing too many pieces. Wrote that in the description

Philly doesn’t take that… mainly because the talent level seems to drop off a bit before 10… if it was 7 then yes

agree, but we look at that, because although there isnt a RD, there is a lot of value there.
