Two good prospects a first and a second isn’t ridiculous, but I’d pay more if I had to. Obviously Arizona isn’t getting overwhelmed by offers yet.

the prospects arizona would likely qualify as good are bouchard (who i would not even consider trading), broberg, holloway and bourgault, maybe savoie or samorukov or petrov as a secondary piece. apparently the asking price is astronomical which is a big reason they haven’t moved him

No, it's ridiculous. Your 1st is next year and the 2nd is in 2024..c'mon now..even if you upgraded those picks to earlier years, it's not enough. Especially if you're dumping Keith's contract on TOP of that.

This is a “if Keith retires” post so no he’s just in there to get him off the roster functionally

That’s fine people can analyze the deal specifically make the price higher my main issue was making it make financial sense no one can ever agree what a trade will cost

But it doesn’t mean they won’t have to accept less at some point

I gotchu, I took it as a LTIR retire kind of move, which is why you included that, my bad there..but yeah, LAK and a couple others could beat any offer EDM throws out (realistically).

I do think the Oilers would like to use that 3 million and perhaps get an even better option than DeSmith...even though I do like DeSmith personally, I think Edmonton is going to attempt to go hard in net.
