Description

The point of this is a path to clear more cap space and gain players for a few extra years on team friendly contracts.
1st I wound hate to see Bratt walk. However in a interview i read from his agent i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen and Fitz holds out banking on Hughes and Hischier to be the reason for his success. and his agent seems to be looking for a big pay out after they met last week.
2nd after this season Hamilton is the only D man signed on a Pro deal

This will allow 40 mill in cap space for the next offseason while adding a player like Vatrano give the team the PF it needs on the cheap.
However if I was a NJD fan id be so pissed if this happened.

There is a less than 0% chance that the Devils let Bratt walk. ESPECIALLY for free. and if they are trying to clear cap space, Zacha and Johnsson go before Tatar.

As much as I want Bratt to stay you can't say there is zero chance bratt doesn't stay. He's a talented young winger teams with more success will over pay for him for long term if its cheaper then options like Johnny hockey and foresberg.
Also Zacha is gone didn't resign him. Johnsson has NTC is harder to move

Zacha is an RFA and we still hold his rights so no he is not gone yet, Johnsson has a 10-team no trade list so you're right, it would be a bit harder to move but not impossible. And im not sure how Bratt would be a cheaper option than any FA considering he is an RFA and a team would have to offersheet him a crazy amount for the devils not to match.
