Shouldn't the Sabres owners and management try to make the team better by signing a UFA or two to actually help the players and fans.
To run an NHL team costs bout 140m a year. So spend 61m or 71m on players salaries.....a 10m difference doesn't really the owners at all. Actually a better team makes the owners money...more seats sold, maybe playoff money, and better TV revenue.

They are going to push hard to get a real number one goalie. And another right shot defenseman. Adding Quinn and Peterka full time will help too if they both have good rookie seasons.

Actually I think the Sabres/Wings/Devils can be good teams really soon. Good ELC players, high picks and lots of cap. Just spend the cap wisely, and all three will now be in the playoff chase soon, and just might be the top contenders in the East in in three/four years.

I wouldnt say Bear is a #7 but if you consider him a #7 then the trade isnt fair

even as a 6th dman its not fair. Id rather see if Olofsson can hit 30 Goals than throw him away for nothing
