TOR
  1. Kubalik, Dominik [RFA Rights]
CHI
Kubalik could be a great pickup for Toronto if Chicago doesn’t qualify him. After coming off a down year last year, Leafs could probably sign him to a 1 year 2.5 million “Prove it” deal with the promise that Kubalik will get to play in the Leafs Top 6. If he plays well enough he could leave next off season and get PAID by another team
    2.
    TOR
    1. Kolesar, Keegan [RFA Rights]
    VGK
The type of player that the Leafs should take a chance on. Could be a very solid addition to the bottom 6 if Vegas doesn’t qualify him (most likely won’t because of cap issues) . He’ll probably take around a 1 year 1.25-1.5 mil deal.
      3.
      OTT
Not a trade but a signing. Senators buy out Murray and he comes to Toronto to become the 1b of a tandem. I’d imagine he’ll probably get around a 1 year 1.5 million dollar deal
        4.
        NSH
Not a trade but a signing. Predators buy out Myers and he comes to Toronto on a 1 year 1 million prove it deal. He would serve as a Holl replacement or additional RD depth

Don't think there's any question that Kolesar will be qualified. He was a league min deal last season so his QO will be basically nothing. As a fan of a cap strapped team, you must understand how valuable productive, low cost players are to the Knights.

Considering all of those teams have cap space, and none of them are making big coin, its very unlikely that they don;t qualify these guys.

And even if they didnt qualify them or these other guys get bought out, why would TOR get them so cheaply? If they were available on the open market I can;t see somebody who can offer a bigger role get them.

And deslauries and husso sign as UFAs for so little?

And are the 115pt maple leafs like the Island of Misfit Toys now?

As a hawks fan, I could see the Hawks trying to deal Kubalik's rights, and if there are no takers, simply letting him walk. He's not really the type of player the Hawks are looking for, and keeping him on takes up a roster spot that could be better used on a younger player looking to develop his game more.

Didn’t Husso suck for St Louis in the playoffs?

True but it would be really bad asset mgmt. His QO is low, so you tender that to him and then trade him. Really goofy to just let him walk when most teams would give up a 3rd or more for him

Possibly, but the rumors are we were shopping him at the deadline, and there were no takers for a return around that. Davidson has also shown that he's willing to let players walk if he doesn't get what he wants. He did the same thing with Dehan. I don't necessarily agree with that stance, but it's how Davidson has shown he's going to run his FO.
