Price Trade #2

Created by: CaptainFlynnt
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 8, 2017
Published: May 8, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trying to make improvements to the unrealistic team I made earlier today based off of feedback.

1. Price has a NMC and will almost 100% decline a sign and trade to Philly however it's possible he may accept a trade that doesn't involve him signing. This decreases his trade value but makes the deal more realistic.

2. Bishop's rights are worth more than I originally thought. Doughty has high praise for Beaulieu, I think he is a player LA would be interested in.

Philly could give up that much and get Brian Elliott

I was taking some heat earlier today saying price isn't worth that much... point is this is the basics of the trade and anything else on top would be sweet. You have to remember price only has one year left on his contract so Philly is giving up quite a bit for possibly only 1 year of price.

Dude this is just as bad as the last one. I'd give you mase and a defenseman not name Sanheim, gudas, provorov, or ghost. Price isn't worth what you think just stop with these awful trades. I wouldn't trade that #2 for anything but sure 1C .. sergachev and price and I'd give you Simmonds and Mase and a 2nd not the #2. Sorry. Try again and be a little realistic.

I think that we should make this thread a place for positive reinforcement, not put downs and ad hominem attacks, regardless of the transactions.

IMO, I love the idea of bringing Price to Philly, however, I would only feel comfortable doing this if I know that Anthony Stolarz, Carter Hart, etc., are not going to pan out to be the players that religious Phildelphia fans are hoping them to be.

Simmonds is a hard asset to move, especially since he is on a cheap deal and still has a couple of more years left before he hits the open market. I would consider Wayne Simmonds and German Rubsotv for Price, but that would only be the case if any of the goalie prospects that I layed out didnt pan out and became Michael Leightons.

I would have to say that this is an underpayment for the best goaltender in the world. Simmonds is a juggernaut, except he can't score at will...it all comes on the PP or in garbage time. Mason is going to take his time in FA, so there isnt any merit in trading for his rights. A 2017 2nd round pick is more like a 3rd round pick in an above-average draft.

Sergechav is going to be a stud, and I don't see any room for him on our blue line, especially with Provorov, Ghost, Myers, Morin, Hagg, Sanheim.

You're a funny guy Nate... you do know that picks can bust right? Look at #1 overall pick Yakupov.. you're totally over-valuing that draft pick yet you accuse me of over valuing the best goalie in the world. This isn't even a strong draft year but hischier still projects to be a top 6 C which is a big need for montreal. He could still bust and this could go down as one of montreal's worst trades in history.

Yeah picks can bust but when we have no chance at getting a 1C this is the only chance we have you have to take it. You don't trade it for a one year rental and even if we retain him that's $8m in cap just to one goalie. We will have 3 $8m players before we pay Provorov it doesn't make sense. I told him on the other thread that it didn't make sense and this trade still doesn't make sense for Philly. Price isn't the best goalie in the world in my opinion and he isn't the one piece that's going to win us a cup. MTL has had better teams than us and he hasn't won it there so what's going to be different here?

That's weird coming from you when you go bash every flyers post on here and tell everyone they don't know what they are doing..

Look sorry if it came off harsh but I said before the only they flyers move that pick is if they are getting a 1C back. They aren't going to give it up for a goalie and just suck for the next five years until G is off the books and they rebuild completely..

I can respect that because now there's some actual reasoning behind your response. You don't think Philly is good enough even with Price so they should keep the pick and look towards the future... that's exactly how I feel about montreal with price, they could possibly trade him to add some future assets and if they sign bishop I don't think he would even be missed.

NateElder: fair enough, but the Flyers are already in a rebuild, so why have to wait for Giroux's contract to be up to start fresh again.

Ideally, the Flyers keep their core players, and build around the up and coming players. This team is going to be lethal in three years.

Hextall won't pull that trade off, especially if Price doesn't sign first and maybe a first coming back the other way. It's possible that Philly pulls a Patrick Roy circa 1996 and lets Carey play out in Philly (if he were to resign). I wouldn't hate that, and would be tough to see Simmer go, but I doubt it would happen with the prospects we have in net. More unlikely now that Bishop is off the market (as of now).
