Continue the Build

Description
To me, there won't be a ton to advance the rebuild THIS year.
Trocheck is a huge upgrade at 2C. Suter for Petterson helps both teams. Pens save some money, and get a pivot who can play 3C if Malkin is resigned, but is only tied to them for a year.

Namestnikov coming back seems inevitable to me. Namestnikov especially can help take some pressure off of Berggren, who could easily slide down to the 3rd line if he struggles at all. Stevie Y loves what those guys bring day in and day out, and he was a large part of the culture rebuild.

Domingue isnt a flashy backup G, but Yzerman brought him to TB, so they have a history, he'll sign cheap and for short term, which covers probably just enough time to get Cossa in, meanwhile Ned gets to audition, as a full tiem starter, without looking over his shoulder (not that Greiss forced that issue much this year, haha!)

I don't see the 8OA this year making the team, no matter who they pick.

This also leaves tons of cap flexibility for the extensions that will be needed soon.

Zadina is the odd man out, but I just dont know what they will really do with him. He hasn't earned a spot, but he's still so young. So I acquired a backloaded contract in it's last year and took a flyer (ha get it?) On a 25 year old Right Dman, who has had some success in the NHL, but was a poor fit in Nashville.

This team is better than this past season, but still a lottery team next year, when the rebuild will be put to bed with bigger FA moves and a stocked prospect cupboard.

Zadina is worth more than that and Myers is getting traded and bought our most likely gives teams Cap if they do

So a buyout candidate has more value than Zadina, I don't think so that's a brutal trade for Detroit.

Absolutely, but I think he was just a poor scheme fit in Nashville, so the Wings could try him out, and go back to Lindstrom or whoever if he doesn't work out here. He's skates well, is 6'5" and a right shot... he also was pretty good with the Flyers, so he's shown he CAN compete at the NHL level. I agree though this wont likely be the trade.

Massive overpayment on both trades. Pettersson can be had for a 3rd no need to dump Suter for him.

What are those trades? Detroit loses both and the Nashville one is particularly bad. Also, Domingue is not an NHL goalie, he's a very good 3rd goalie in a system.
