Description
Looking at this, we don’t really need Slafkovsky. U already have Sharangovich on the third line as a guy u can pull up in the lineup if u need. Foote also has top 6 potential and possesses many of the same qualities as Slafkovsky. I think they should go dman(preferably Nemec) or take BPA(Cooley). If you take Nemec and he plays in the NHL this year, the Severson situation becomes very interesting. Wouldn’t be a need anym

I am personally in the boat of Nemec over Slaf, but that's more because of the value of a right handed Dman (see Makar). The problem is that we're getting close to a breaking point on Foote of really figuring out what he is. He shows streaks of power forward potential, but also seems like a tweener between the AHL and NHL. Yes the potential is there, but overall he's a big "what if".

I agree. Think Foote has kind of gotten screwed over these last two years; should’ve played over guys like Vesey. Even if he doesn’t have top 6 potential, he can be solid 3rd line guy IMO. The top 6 here can be ur top 6 for the next 6 or 7 years honestly

Nemec projects to be more offensive than Severson, likely a little less defensively. He would likely steal more minutes from Dougie than Sevs.

Slafkovsky, Sharangovich and Foote aren’t all that comparable. Slafkovsky is a highly skilled, mobile winger, who just happens to be big. Sharangovich relies on his hockey IQ, his long reach, and quick release wrist shot (the skating has really come along the last few years). Foote is more of a typical big winger (hits, plays interior, protects puck with body) who happens to have a great shot and good hands (and below average skating).

Cooley would be a couple of years. He would present a harder choice as another play-driving center. Reminds me often of a smaller Nathan MacKinnon on his transitions/entries.

Pit accepts if you take out the 4th but then dont retain anything.

Even still I think the value is fine and realistic, just dont think the pens would be keen on retaining anything
