Can we Do Both

Created by: Rooster
Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 29, 2022
Published: Jun. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is entirely unrealistic, nor do I think the Sens from a cap perspective should even attempt this, but do we have the assets to acquire both Fiala and DeBrincat? Deals done in the summer of 2022, but I'm doing 23-24 season for signing purposes.

I think Fiala's trade would need more if the pick is top 10 protected, maybe add another prospect like Sokolov or a second

Next year's draft is a lot better than this year's so I'd want some level of protection. I'd even be ok with a top 3 protected. Really, i just don't want to lose out on Bedard if we tank again next year.

Oh yeah I definitely agree, it's just that if it's top 10 protected, the 1st isn't as valuable to the Wild as offering them the 7th overall of this season, unless they see the next draft better than anyone in this draft

I think you’re correct here. BG would love a 2023 first but having to wait until 2024 would be tough. Might have to make contingency plans if pick is protected MN gets 2024 first and a 2023 2nd and MN sends a 2024 2nd back or something like that.

Try Pinto or Grieg.

Greig there's a possibility, but there is no way they trade Pinto unless it's for a player of Debrincat or Pasternak caliber

A first and Järventie is the ideal deal when the pick is the #7 overall. If you move it back a year AND add protection, the prospect needs to be substantially better.

This is very cool. and a strong roster I think the only unreasonable piece is hoping that Ottawa could/would spend that much.

I know that was discussed in the article but its not a good move for CHI. The prospects aren't High End and 7OA in this draft class don't do justice for what the CAT is IMO.
