Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly.
As a newcomer, you are unaware of the 50,000 prior Toronto ACGMs proposing a Jake-Muzzin-back-to-Los-Angeles trade. The brevity of the previous responses above is due to the fact that this subject has been exhaustively discussed. To bring you up to date, all 100% of Los Angeles fans' responses have been negative, as have about 25% of the responses from Toronto fans which, in our view, is the knowledgeable segment of the Maple Leaf fanbase. The reasons for the vociferous antipathy to this idea are:
(1) Muzzin's absolute NTC -- why would he leave home (he's an Ontario boy) for a team with a lesser chance at the Stanley Cup?
(2) Los Angeles' cap structure inhibits it, because we have our eyes set on another major acquisition following the dreamt-for and now-accomplished Kevin Fiala deal.
(3) The Kings are looking for a young #1 LD or else an inexpensive stopgap veteran -- Muzzin is neither, so there's no fit there.
(4) In most cases, such as yours, the player coming back to Toronto is worth far more than Muzzin. Here, Los Angeles wouldn't consider for three nanoseconds giving up either Vilardi or Anderson for Muzzin even if you retained 50% on him and included a second-round draft pick, which you don't have until 2024.
Don't be discouraged. Very few of us want to go back and look at our original efforts. Keep trying.
