These are the lines I would do, not how i think Evason would do it. Hartman likely starts as 1C, he earned that, but I envision Zacha getting a chance too and then clicking with Kaprisov and Zuc.

I wouldn't use the Toews trade as a comparison. that was one of the most lopsided trades in recent history, sakic bent the islanders over on that one.

That said 2 2nds would be a great deal to get Dumba for the Sens. Not sure if they would do it thou as he is likely due for a big raise and the Sens have to sign Stuzle and then Sanderson coming as well as potentially sign another top 6 Winger for good money so not sure if it makes cap sense to get him unless he wants to resign again for 6 or 7 mill long term.

I think that’s a good comp though, because of the cap space restrictions. But you’re right, it does look real bad now.

I’d guess Dumba wants 6+ million.

Tbh I’d be happy with this return. I don’t see him re-signing in MN and I see his replacement in Addison / Faber.

Is Dumba due for a big raise? I guess I just don’t see a case to be made for him getting more than his current pay.

Maybe I’m underestimating how much GMs will overpay veteran RHD, but his numbers are performance metrics haven’t been very good these last few years, and he has injury history.

**** if he would sign anywhere around 6 per at 8 years i would give up the 2 2nds, you could also probably get Brannstrom instead of one of the 2nds.

I think there is a real value to physical top 4 veteran RHD, the history problems are a question, I was really asking more, but if his value is 6 per and he will sign long term, then I would think the Sens would be happy to take him for 2 2nds. Much better option for a Chabot partner or a Sanderson Partner than what the Sens have now outside of Zub, and the cap hit is manageable.

I would be willing to go a bit more for Dumba if a contract could be worked out prior, how the Fiala trade went down. I guess it would have to be after the draft and once you can sign extensions then for that to happen though.

It's going to be interesting to see what he is looking for in a contract though. Somewhere between $6 and $7M I think would be decent, especially after last offseason with Jones and Nurse signing close to 10.

I think they’d want the picks TBH. We’ve got so many LHD prospects coming up and already have Brodin locked in and maybe Middleton soon here.

What is “a bit more”? A 2023 protected first?

Meh, I'd pass on Zacha. He's just an expensive 4th liner on this team, I don't see any ways Dean plays him above Hartman or Gaudreau.

Oh really? Interesting. I figured he was a prime change of scenery guy who could put it all together.

I'm not all that convinced personally. He hasn't looked like anything special when we've played the Devils. He also played a lot on the wing this year

That’s fair. If the ask wasn’t too much I’d take a chance on him. I’d also be looking for a way to get Mittelstadt but that seems less likely. I have a feeling if BG moves Dumba he’ll try and use that money for a C.

I am honestly not sure. The Toews trade is a complete fleece job done by the Avalanche but then you look at deals like the Risto trade to Philly, and consensus (224-10 according to the trade poll) would say Philly got fleeced.

I tried looking at other comparables but there just aren't many. You have the Jones trade, but Jones is a higher profile, has a higher ceiling in my opinion, than Dumba. And on the low end there is the Ryan Ellis, trade where none of the players involved played much this year (Ellis - 4gp, Myers - 27gp, Patrick 0gp for Preds, Glass 8gp).

So to answer your question, maybe a low end prospect, 3rd round pick value? It's hard to gauge a value on Dumba, although Ottawa is a good dance partner as there is a gaping hole on the top 4 RD.

Yeah, I was having a hard time comparing trades as well. I think they’d rather have the two 2nds than a prospect and a 3rd. Russo is saying the Wild want more 2023 top 100 picks, so maybe that’s what they target.

I agree, Ottawa feels like a good fit. He’d be back home in Canada and probably signs a reasonable extension there. I bet if Ott offered 6-7 mil per he’d take that.

If I were guessing now, I would say Dumba would sign a 6m by 6 year extension. If this was agreed on before hand, is there any deal that you would do where the Wild could give up Dumba and pick(s) for #7 overall?

A 6x6 extension would definitely peak my interest. I'm not sure what the deal would look like but I'm sure something could be structured around Dumba and #7.
