One more big move this offseason

Created by: Tombot97
Team: 2022-23 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2022
Published: Jun. 30, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pretty confident Walker is going to be moved no matter what happens next. If the Kings want to trade for Chychrun or Sergachev (my personal favs) either Iafallo or Peterson have to be moved. With no trade protections at 4x3 Iafallo could get a slight over pay from an undesirable team/market ie Buffalo his childhood team.
the 16th pick, Spence, and Vilardi would be the main value of the chychrun trade. Open to switching Grans, Durzi, JAD, or Turcotte in but Durzi and Turcotte would change the trade a lot.
Target LDs and get one of the top 4 G prospects in the draft.
This team would definitely make the playoffs over the next 5 years and contender fairly soon.
Edler might be a stretch*

Not very appealing for Sabres, I expect them to make their picks. At least at 9 and 16.

the 16th might be a stretch but I think the FLA first for Iafallo and Lias would make sense. Iafallo would be a good all situations 2nd line winger for buffalo. Before he dislocated his shoulder he was on pace for a 25 goal 50 point season.

We have tons of young forwards. Doesn't make sense

Our gm has said we aren't going to acquire vets that would just be blocking our kids that are ready for the nhl. Essentially, that means that we have 3 kids that are getting top 9 spots- Quinn, peterka, and Krebs, all three play wing (Krebs also plays center, but if he is at center, then mittelstadt is on the wing). I don't love the value, but value aside, if the team is committed to their talented kids, and apparently they are, then there's no room.

What is the vibe in Buffalo this offseason? I thought Buffalo, New Jersey, and Ottawa would all be willing to move some picks to fill holes around good young players. Do you think they would move the 28th for Iafallo knowing that it would be unlikely to get a UFA like him without overpaying them and a lot/most M-NTC have buffalo on their lists?

What do you think the top 9 will look like next year in Buffalo and which forwards will be on the PK?

By all accounts next seasons sounds like another year of development. Guys like Okposo, Asplund, Thompson, Tuch and Girgensons will PK. I would also expect Granato to give some of the other guys time on the PK units to develop their game more.

Unlike several others here, I believe Adams will likely add another forward. However I think it's probably more of a 3/4C to replace Eakin. Top 6/9 wings are mostly set unless they move someone.

Skinner, Olofsson, Krebs on the LW. Tuch, Quinn, Okposo on the RW. with Asplund, and Peterka getting top 9 time as well, and possibly even Ruotsalainen.

Thanks for clarifying! Iafallo could probably go to arizona or an Ottawa/New Jersey to make it work. Sounds like this would only happen if Eakin doesn't resign and Krebs moves to 3C.

Krebs mostly played on the wing last season because they were rolling Thomspon, Mittelstadt and Cozens at 1 - 3C. They could shift him to center but that would likely put one of the other guys into a wing role.

Kings get 2023 2nd round pick (VGK) and 2022 4th round pick (BUF) Sabres get Iafallo, Walker, and 2023 3rd round pick (LAK)
Andersson does not move the needle but Jordan Spence or Walker would give Buffalo a RHD.
Iafallo would give Buffalo a really good defensive forward who has a scoring touch.
While the Sabres PK'ed by committee (10 players all PK'ed at least 0:30/gm and no one did more then 1:30/gm)they were not very good at doing it ranking 23rd in the NHL last year.
Make it Iafallo and Spence/Walker I would certainly be tempted to give up the 28th OA.
Skinner Thompson Tuch
Olofsson Cozens Quinn
Asplund Mittelstadt Iafallo
Krebs Girgensons Okposo
Or something to this effect

I saw that one. The contracts were a little inaccurate and I've heard Vilardi would be moved instead of Kupari. I also felt the Iafallo/Walker trade would probably get you the 28th. Iafallo would definitely help out the PK and would be great on a shutdown 3rd line somewhere. IK the kings PK wasn't great but that was mainly because of a AHL defensive unit playing most of the season in the NHL.
