Trades
1.
TBL
  1. Mikkola, Niko [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (STL)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Bottom pair d man, 2nd, and 3rd in exchange for McDonough + ABB who is moreso just a throw in for St Louis who could maybe be something if all goes right, but more than likely is not. This trade happens assuming St Louis trades Scandella
STL
  1. Barré-Boulet, Alex
  2. McDonagh, Ryan
Additional Details:
Do I think St Louis should make this trade? Not at all. That McDonaugh contract is ugly and will only get even worse. He’s still a Solid #3 d man who makes for a guy who can play 2nd pair, PK1, and shut down role, but he just isn’t worth nearly 7 mil at this age for 4 years. However, knowing the GMs in today’s NHL, someone will pay for him, and this is around the value I’d expect the trade to be
2.
TBL
    Picks/Prospects
    STL
    1. Killorn, Alex
    Additional Details:
    To whatever team
    3.
    TBL
    1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [RFA Rights]
    2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
Pulju would be a great fit for the checking line in Tampa. Doubt his value is too high (HoLLand is such a moron)
    EDM
    1. Cajkovic, Maxim
    2. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
    Additional Details:
Late 1st + B-/C+ level prospect for Pulju and a late 2nd in 2023. Again, Edmonton shouldn’t do this, but I expect this is roughly the value, if not lower

I’d pay 7 mil to a top pair guy. McDonaugh is only getting older, has 4 years left, and just isn’t a top pair esque defenceman. If this is the value McDonaugh is worth, then Jake Muzzin is worth 2 1sts minimum lmaoo

No one will pay for McDonagh because he's on Tampa and they won 2 Cups recently, now they are up to the cap. They would rather poach Serge. Plus, if there was a team that wanted to pay for McDonagh, it's likely not a team where he wants to go to if he decides to go.

Who knows though maybe Flr, SJ and Tampa can work out a trade with McDonagh going to FLR, Bob to SJ, and a bad contract from SJ leaving somewhere else but doubt it lol.

Why would you sign him over palat and that Nick Paul contract is an overpay

If your team wants a player to improve the team you go get that player. you don’t worry about what other teams have won.

GMs have made dumb moves before, and it won’t be the end of them. I have a feeling a market will be there for McDonaugh

If I remember correctly, his contract is similar to what Colton Parayko’s will be in 3 or 4 years time. So I don’t think they’re afraid to commit to these kinda deals. With an aging d core already and a lot of older current NHL forwards outside of Thomas and Kyrou, I wouldn’t be shocked if they were interested

That’s around what Paul is asking for and tbh, I’ve seen worse contracts. Comparable to the Goodrow and Tanev contracts and in my opinion Paul is better than both.

Burakovsky is seriously underrated. The dude would absolutely light it up with Tampa’s top line. I love the fit of him. In my opinion, he is better than Palat and will command less dollar value as well

That's true, but McDonagh's NMC might prevent that from happening unless he's open to moving to a decent list of teams.

If you signed Paul to 2,750,000, didn’t sign Puljujärvi, and had Sean Day over Mikkola you could sign both Palat and Burakovsky (and yes Burakovsky is better)

Me either but Parakyo is a lot younger he’s only 28 vs 33 so it’s a little safer

Oh yeah Parayko is younger now by a good bit, but I’m referring to Parayko in 4 or so years time where his contract will basically be the same at the same age as McDonaugh (give or take a year), which shows St Louis isn’t gonna be afraid to take this kinda contract if that makes sense, considering they’ve given out others similar to it
    xercuses liked this.
