Wrong. Wings 100% accept. You need an LHD like Pettersson, first off ,which won't come cheap despite what some AGM's do here. Pettersson is 100% worth a 2nd+.

Kapanen is a good fit for a team like yours on the rise. He'll probably sign a prove-it deal.

I'm telling you. Zero chance. Petterson comes with term over 4 mil per year for a 3rd pairing Dman. You're getting a 3rd rounder and that's being generous.

Pet is not getting you a 2nd. He’s worth a late 3rd at best, and with recent reports of PIT trying to shed his cap easily less. KK is not a Center and Ras is not a great Center, but with DET’s weak C depth im not trading Ras for KK. Both should be removed and not be picks altered.

We can thank Rutherford for that mess. We have a glut of LHDs and need to free up space. We're lucky to have all good ones, so you unfortunately have to trade your most trade-able asset. We're not in a position to have three LHD's at $4M.

If you think a very good 2nd pairing dman who's not entering his prime years isn't worth at least a 2nd, then talking hockey with you is useless. DET says yes, you're yeah, you're wrong. Very wrong.

For those who don't understand hockey. Here's a little insight from one of the top analytics guys...

<a href=Screen-Shot-2022-07-01-at-11-11-19-AM">

$4M for a 26 year old dman for three years. That's easily worth a 2nd.

That’s perfectly logical. Why would Detroit give up max assets then? They wouldn’t a late 3rd round pick is perfectly reasonable to ask a team to take on 4 mil in their cap for the next 3 years

Max assets? Listen, Rasmussen is a nice piece, but he's not a top asset by any stretch. He likely never amounts to more than a good 3rd liner, which is fine, but let's not act like he's some major piece.

The funny logic that happens on this board is if you like a player then trading for a player with term is looked at as value and if you don't like him, then it's not. $4M for a very good 2nd pairing dman is good value no matter who we're talking about.

If you look up at some back up info I posted from Andy & Romo, it shows what you're getting. He's also 26, so he's now in his prime. So three years for a dman who's tops in what he does for $4M? That has value.

So, you fill a major need which unfortunately for any team means you have to give to get. Pettersson is likely worth a 2nd plus a mid-level prospect, so in this case you give up a pretty good young player in Rasmussen and 3rd, then give up a 4th for some potential in Kap.

EDIT: Let's also realize that you guys are no longer in this collecting prospects/picks phase. Stevie is about to get aggressive to take your team into being a playoff team.

Rasmussen is a cheap player who just had a career year for himself after being moved to the wing. There is no way he's going to be added to a deal as a sweetener for a player that the opposing team knows they're actively trying to offload.

GTFO with your “for those that don’t know hockey” and your Yardbarker post from a biased PIT writer that solely is looking at some analytical data but not the big picture. I’ve played hockey (D) consecutively for 23 years, I’m not a fair weather fan who posts biased on here.

From the article “Pet saw his play dip in the 2nd half of season as well as playoffs… Pet found himself as a healthy scratch on occasion in 21-22 season.”

Plenty of Wings fans and PIT fans on here and in countless other posts have mocked and agreed upon Pet for a 3rd already. Multiple in these comments already told you it’s not happening, get off your high horse. DET says no.

Lots of players have peaks and valleys throughout the season. It's not uncommon.

You act like that because random people on a message board means anything in the real world. A hundred wings fans could tell me no and I'm still saying yes.

You used an article from the last season to justify your argument and I used the same article from the same season to counter… Value is wrong is all I’ve been getting at.

You threw out a blanket statement claiming people knew nothing about hockey directed at those who posted just because others didn’t agree with you. That’s fine, you can feel that way, but my opinion and many others opinions some of which have posted to your very thread think you’re wrong and that is our opinion. Last I’m commenting, have a good weekend.

I’ll never understand capfriendly users thinking trading a player means he sucks. Like teams don’t trade good players ever. You have to trade value to get value. MP is a really good second pair shutdown defenseman. His analytics prove that and he’s on a great contract.
