That’s perfectly logical. Why would Detroit give up max assets then? They wouldn’t a late 3rd round pick is perfectly reasonable to ask a team to take on 4 mil in their cap for the next 3 years
Max assets? Listen, Rasmussen is a nice piece, but he's not a top asset by any stretch. He likely never amounts to more than a good 3rd liner, which is fine, but let's not act like he's some major piece.
The funny logic that happens on this board is if you like a player then trading for a player with term is looked at as value and if you don't like him, then it's not. $4M for a very good 2nd pairing dman is good value no matter who we're talking about.
If you look up at some back up info I posted from Andy & Romo, it shows what you're getting. He's also 26, so he's now in his prime. So three years for a dman who's tops in what he does for $4M? That has value.
So, you fill a major need which unfortunately for any team means you have to give to get. Pettersson is likely worth a 2nd plus a mid-level prospect, so in this case you give up a pretty good young player in Rasmussen and 3rd, then give up a 4th for some potential in Kap.
EDIT: Let's also realize that you guys are no longer in this collecting prospects/picks phase. Stevie is about to get aggressive to take your team into being a playoff team.
