The panik deal is dumb…why give up a 6th round pick to save ~$250k in cap space? Especially when your model has ~$4mil to play with.

Don't see the point of the Buffalo trade. They don't need more vets for Rochester. With some of the kids potentially graduating to the NHL they need the younger players down there to meet the developmental player requirements. All this trade does is eat up another contract slot for Buffalo.

Rather keep Murray, at least he could help out on the 4th line if needed

The 2014 draft picks were mighty swings and misses for both the Sabres and Islanders.
NY took Michael Dal Colle fifth and the next six players taken were:
Jake Virtanen R 317 55 45 100 219 2020-21
Haydn Fleury D 215 9 22 31 45 2021-22
William Nylander R 439 137 206 343 106 2021-22
Nikolaj Ehlers L 478 164 194 358 165 2021-22
Nick Ritchie L 407 71 89 160 430 2021-22
Kevin Fiala L 419 124 159 283
Then they moved up to take Josh Ho-Sang and the next player taken was Adrian Kempe C 390 90 96 186
Buffalo was worse taking:
Sam Reinhart C 532 167 210 377 While missing on
Leon Draisaitl C 558 254 362 616
Second round:
Brendan Lemieux L 230 31 29 60 when IMO the obvious choice was
Ivan Barbashev C 351 68 81 149

Terrible way for Murray to start Sabre GM.
