B's by Moog 4.0

Description
Keeping it simple...Sign Pasta to LTC. Waive Hayes. McQuaid to Vegas in expansion while B's may have to toss in a mid to late pick to seal the deal. Trade Spooner for someone else's headache. Benning may still like Spoons promise as he could work well with the Euro Canucks while shedding losses in promise unfulfilled with Virtanen, who checks a lot of boxes as a potential line mate for Marchy/Bergy. Sign new Boston resident, Iggy, to a team friendly 1yr deal and bring back 4th line help in Acciari/Schaller. Lastly McIntyre should be ready to back up after a stellar AHL playoff run. Would like to shed Beleskey but no takers. This keeps money/assets flexible for in season moves if need be. I would also expect DeBrusk, Heinen, Czarnik and others to help at some point next year. JFK and Senyshyn may need added seasoning as well as Dmen Zboril and Lauzon but the future is bright. If Bjork signs he could really push Vatrano as Krejci wingman.

Waive Hayes? You must assume there would be no takers just for cap reasons. So Virtanen who probably doing well as the third liner in Utica is now with Bergeon and Marchand.

Vancouver isn't giving up on Virtanen just yet so I wouldn't be so sure about that trade. His value is at an all time low and if Vancouver were to trade him I think they would wait until his value went up.

I doubt there is a trade for Hayes unless B's add a sweetener to Vegas. He will be bought out or traded since he is in last year of contract. Virtanen is my pick to click as top line RW as B's will fill from within. B's like to roll lines instead of top loading and typically pair off two player and add a complimentary third to round out lines i.e. Marchy/Bergy and Krejci/Pasta. They can get by with some youth there just like Carlo was paired with Chara. I don't see them landing a UFA with term but would be fine with a Vrbata type signing at 2-3M to fill top line RW. However, I think that spot will be filled from within. Insert your own candidate.

Sweeney tried to trade Hayes at the deadline and got zero calls on him. If we waive him and someone claims him, it's a win for us. If no one claims him and he goes to the minors, we save some cap and it's still a win for us lol. As far as Virtanen goes, his style of play fits how Bergeron/Marchand play. As Moog said, Boston does a lot of duo's with a complement 3rd pieces. Also the 3rd line next year probably has JFK centering it and another young forward. Virtanen playing up allows Backes to move to the 3rd line and be the veteran presences on the line.

You're getting a young 40/50 point centerman for a guy that is playing 3rd line in the AHL...how much more value can you get?
