Lots going on here. McGinn isn’t gonna get moved sadly. Zucker probably doesn’t get moved either unfortunately, though it’s possible he gets interest because a rebuilding team may want to sell him at the deadline. Manson probably goes back to Anaheim, he wanted to win a cup and go back, both sides have interest. Top 9 is very deep, lots of flexibility but I don’t think Hextall spends that much. 83k in cap space is very very tight for penguins standards. Overall, is this possible? Yes. Is it realistic? No. No no.

I don’t think Hornqvist would want to play primarily a shutdown role.

Every post I see has Geno walking, can someone explain this? The notion that he’s washed seems unreasonable, his underlying numbers were fantastic last season!

It's not exactly that he's washed, it's the fact that Pit just has a cap crunch coming up and age is definitely catching up to Geno. He's still a reliable top 6 centre, but he's going to be commanding money and term that just won't make sense to Pit, and their priority right now is Letang. It just feels more likely some team, either a competitive one with LTIR room to take advantage of, or a young one that needs a culture setter (watch Detroit as a sleeper on this with all that cap space) will overpay to bring him in

Also, that Miller deal, while fair, and I personally love, is probably not a deal that gets done. I'd love to have Marino and to bring Heinen home, but if a bidding war for Miller does actually happen at the draft, I could see this being one of the deals that just falls short. As a Canucks fan, I'm usually the first one to point out how we overvalued players, but Miller is one of the few that I see most other fanbase's undervalue (again, I feel like the value in that deal is fair though)

His 5 v 5 numbers wern't great and he showed some decline with his skating. It's not that he's a bad player, but if he's commanding over 7 mil at 3 years then that could be a very bad contract after year 1. Love Malkin he's one of my favorites of all time, but when you take emotion out of it I don't know if it makes sense for a team that has to get younger.

What 5v5 numbers? His play driving was fantastic. https://twitter.com/sal_nhl/status/1543379550540791809?s=21&t=tREK3MX7p8I_D8HqYdWfUA
