Vegas takes Deslauriers for some grit/forward depth and defense depth in a pinch as he's a former defender. Still think it's realistic that Vegas could take Moulson/Ennis but nobody wants to believe that so here's a different take I guess.
Sure they could go Ullmark as well, but I think there are other/better goalie prospects to choose from if they're going for a young guy. Korpisalo, Subban, Grubauer, etc.

---

Chicago gets expansion exempt forward that could fill in the bottom 6 and a 3rd to dump Kruger's salary and TVR so they don't lose him for nothing.

---

Pittsburgh keeps their goalie and gets something in return, if Fleury plays well on the Buffalo squad then Pittsburgh gets a little upgrade.
I think this move makes it look a little better for Petersen as well. Fleury is getting older and Petersen could have a straight shot to the top, a couple years starting in the AHL and then coming in as 1A/1B with Ullmark (or a veteran should Ullmark be moved), ultimately taking the reigns.

---

Calgary gets their goalie of the future in Lehner and a 2nd in exchange for Brodie. Don't know if values are really spot on but for a young goalie who was top 10 on a terrible team, who still is team controlled, it seems at least to be fairly close I'd think.

---

No spending in free agency. Money is tight, gonna get tighter with Kane, Eichel, Reinhart, etc coming up. Pieces are here, gotta look from within for the complimentary parts.

Guhle gets to play top minutes in the AHL. Could break into the lineup as the first call up, or if McCabe were to get dealt/Antipin doesn't pan out and doesn't re-sign or gets sent down.

Thought it'd be interesting to see Reinhart at C and O'Reilly on Eichels wing but they could easily be interchangeable.

Cap is still close for 2018/19 once we have to re-sign Eichel, Reinhart, Antipin, Van Riemsdyk, Kane, etc. Bogosian could be bought ought that Summer, or traded with salary retained. Or we don't re-sign Kane, and Nylander ends up being ready and coming up for a full time gig in the top 6.

yeah, i don't think calgary gets off of brodie for that but i think we could get something for lehner (sam bennett and a 2018 2nd?) from them. fleury can maybe be had for that price. not a lot of up an coming teams are going to want to take that cap hit. we can. add in deslauriers to that chicago trade. they need two forwards to meet exposure requirements and if they protect everyone they want, they would have only tootoo who meets requirements. then you can maybe entice vegas to take ennis if they can't get at lehner or ullmark.

I like Fleury and all but we are going to be in cap hell in one or two years so why tie the team up in a 5,000,000 + 32 will be 33 year old goalie?

I think it's enough. Better than losing him for nothing, not many teams taking on that cap hit.

Absolutely no interest in Bennett. We've don't need another center to throw on the wing, we need a LHD. Maybe that's not enough, but the foundation is there and I think it could work. Could find something to throw at Chicago.

The way this team is set up, we have about 22M in cap space 2018-2019 if the cap stayed at 73M. Plenty of money to re-sign Kane, Eichel, Reinhart, TVR, etc. Then the following year Fleury and Kruger both come off and the buyout hits from Ennis and Moulson decrease dramatically. Gives us another almost 10M in cap space, enough to sign McCabe and whatever other small pieces we need. Then Bogo comes off that following year when things are starting to get a little tight but by then Guhle should be more than ready, we should have some other young prospects ready to come in and fill in the holes at a low cost.

Trading for Fleury gives us a goalie for now that will help us compete, and will be gone by the time UIlmark/Petersen are ready to have a go at full time duty.
