you're not wrong. and if doesn't work, you can get okposo right back in the lineup. i know jack feels that way but the things that make us better are the insertion of hall, another leap by dahlin, competent special teams, and better goaltending.

Ruotsa-Love
the girgensons deal was a huge misfire. maybe he has better stats but we've seen this guy tried as a top 9 forward and he doesn't have the hockey sense. he has tools, but his decision making and instincts are a 4th liner only. and in a year where good players are taking league minimum on one year it makes even less sense. larsson signed for less. i'd rather have him than girgensons to give some kids a chance on the 4th line. with a compressed schedule, i think 4th lines will play more game in game out. i bring that up because ruotsalianen would have been great as a 4th line LW with larsson and lazar/rieder.

Team USA
i'm going to stump for anders lee for team USA the next time it's sent out. what we've seen in the tight games is net front presence goals are needed. i think team usa has plenty of guys to carry the mail and he's a guy needed for elite size, even beyond what brady tkachuk. however, the guys on the outside show that we're as elite as canada in terms of putting a roster together.

i experimented with lines in college. i lost 30 pounds, got into a fist fight with a caribou, and ended up in a caribbean jail cell. i would like to see thompson make the jump to that first line though.

Trades
you don't understand. no one would expect us to take a top-5 top line and trade one of them, along with a 2nd rounder for opportunity to do so, for a carbon copy of what we've already received from pittsburgh before and two guys who half of the penguins fans don't even know who they are. that's some next level AGMing there.

I can't handle a whole season of that Montour-Risto pair. Let Montour play with Dahlin and let them try and figure it out. They have the most upside. McCabe-Jokiharju is fine. Play Miller and Risto like a 3rd pair or make Risto a RW and let Irwin or one of the kids play on that pair.

Buffalos next steps
i still have trouble giving up on montour. maybe we never tap into his potential but i'd hate to see him figure it out on another squad. i think he should play with dahlin and see if they can figure it out. they are both elite skaters and can maybe turn into a unique pair.

Staal Baby
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boomer125</b></div><div>WTF? Tuch is pretty meh and dangerously overpaid for a 3rd liner</div></div>
sure but he's a third liner on a team with 4 good lines that was at the top of a division. part of that is because they have enough depth to play him on the 3rd line. plus, his playoff performances as a very young player shows he will be a reliable postseason scorer and is just getting started. VO-eichel-tuch and skinner-staal-reinhart would be a great top 6.

i think we'd have to add #8 OA to get tuch. he's a great player on a great contract. montour's qualifying offer is almost as much as tuch makes and kahun is due a couple more million. so the salary is almost evened out. i think if we offered cozens for tuch vegas would still say no. they want to win the cup next year, not wait for players to hit their peak in a couple of years.

Sabres
that's been buffalo's biggest problem. in 2018, carter hutton was the best goalie in the league through 25 games. that's why we won 10 in a row and were on top of the league through a quarter of the season. then the wheels fell off. in 2019, he was really good through a dozen games, we were 9-2 and then the wheels fell off. older goalies are better in the beginning of the year. so he needs to start this upcoming season, then be shelved quickly when it starts to get away. start him up, install ullmark when he breaks down, bury him in rochester, and maybe johansson after a start in the A will be ready to be the backup. then hutton can help UPL in rochester. short of signing someone, which i'm not opposed to, that's what i think the sabres should do.

the next nhl season is going to be a shorter season and we're not winning the title. i want to see what casey, cozens, and tage can do. tage was ready for the NHL when he got hurt and casey should play wing with good players, in my opinion. cozens could benefit in the AHL just like dylan strome did, but i'd rather see them get some minutes and go through some stuff in the short season.

no, no, no. you got it all wrong. ristolainen has a lot of value to the leafs. he is elite at cross checking someone in the back of the neck after a high danger chance against. it will add some flare to all of the goals against.

i think mittelstadt needs to be a winger. his best asset is his creativity around the net when he is playing with elite players. that's why he was so great at WJC. i think he needs to be given a shot to play with some combination of eichel/reinhart/olofsson/skinner/kahun. i know it will be easy to say then he's doing well because he is playing with talent but he will elevate a line into elite status.

2C Center Trade - Coyotes
they wouldn't really have one. stepan would be the place holder for his last year to give hayton more time. they might be able to sign soderberg at a discounted rate so they would do schmaltz-stepan-soderberg-hayton-richardson or some combination of that crew.

redrafting sabres first and second rounds
no one bats 1.000 in the first two rounds of the draft. but the sabres haven't even hit .250. i'm not counting dahlin and eichel because those were no brainers. here's the list: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Buffalo_Sabres_draft_picks" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Buffalo_Sabres_draft_picks</a>

Move risto to RW
it's not like buffalo fans are doing cartwheels over his defense. i'm all for this to end the season. give it a try. although, i want to see olofsson-kahun-reinhart. johansson only has one year left on his deal after this season. unless he re-ups in the offseason, i want to see if that can be a real 2nd line going forward because eichel and skinner need to stay together.
