I'm hoping some team throws a pick for Kuemper's rights, but I'm not too optimistic at this point. Most likely he just hits the market. Doing it while I can though. Doesn't need to be the Caps (obviously).

We don't end up in cap hell if you don't give Kadri that contract. Find a slightly worse player for less money and less term.

It's not that easy. Good players are scarce and in high demand. Who do you think is almost as good and will sign for less money and term?

Trade for someone like Necas or Schmaltz, or sign someone like Strome. Won't be as good as Kadri in 22/23 season, but it buys time for Newhook to develop and all three of those guys can shift to wing if Newhook ascends quickly.
