The entire goal of getting rid of Murray is to make some room to sign ufa and rfa's. with the trade ottawa doesn't save any $ and gives aways a second round pick...

If you look at it from a big picture point of view, the Sens would have 1 year of Kerfoot who is a decent player and then the year after they only have 1 year of half of Murray's salary. To be honest, this is the most reasonable offer I've seen to date. I would accept this. It's better than giving away Connor Brown for nothing rather than using him as a trade chip to get a top 4 RD.

So, the leafs trade picks for a 4th line center that played usually against other team's 4th line, you make him your 3rd line center. You demote Kampf the 3rd line center who played against the other team's top 2 lines and took most d-zone faceoffs. Their offensive numbers are almost identical. So why make this trade? Please explain

I disagree. would you prefer kerfoot or Giroux this offseason?? Because that's why were making room to add actual great players. kerfoot is good but he is no Giroux.

I would much prefer Giroux. It all doesn't matter though because the sweetener was only a 3rd and a 7th, which is even better.
