No interest in Wheeler for that price and preparing for a decline for two years just with age.

A 4M-6M Wheeler is a great add. Heck he tied your captain in scoring last year and would be 2nd place in scoring. The only reason why the Jets want him out is because he needs to be stripped of his captaincy and there isnt a way other than a trade

"Not another way other than trade" what are you talking about? Other players have been stripped of Cs and remained on the team. For the Devils alone Elias was a C for a period of time and they changed course.

Also, at $6m, he's still on for two seasons and will be seeing a decline. The Devils are better off putting that money elsewhere. This isn't binary of Wheeler or nothing.

He did decline. He was a perennial 80-90 point getter and got 60 last year. Prob will hit 60 for the next two years as well. He had a great end to last year once he came back from injury

Wheeler also has some of the worst defensive analytics in the NHL. If he continues to decline through next season and into the following, there is nothing to throw him on the ice for.

Zacha isn't even the cost I worry about. You can have Zacha in another trade for all I care, but I'd much rather spend money elsewhere than to make out big summer move Wheeler.
