All in for Gaudreau

Created by: Skytown
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 12, 2022
Published: Jul. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Horvat gets the play with his cousin (Konecny) and Vancouver gets a couple 1st round picks to restock the prospect cupboard, or use in trades. JVR is off the books after the season, so he’s not a huge problem in Vancouver (depending on what else happens this off-season) and could possibly be flipped at the deadline with some retention for another asset.

As for the Flyers, fill in the bottom 6 with your Tippetts, and MacEwens etc… Maybe go after a Deslauriers.

Is another piece needed on the back end? What exactly is going on with Ellis? I haven’t done any research.

Hahahah, whoops. I even looked at that right away when I started, and just forgot to add another goalie. My bad tears of joy

You also did nothing to address or largest whole, a dman who can actually defend on the right side. Ellis ain't coming back so we can't depend on him.

Guys like Manson and Chiarot would certainly help. Also on the trade market you could target Chychrun, Dumba, maybe even Carlson from WAS

Manson maybe but he seems to be either staying in Colorado or going back to Anaheim, maybe signs with a more established contender. Chiarot meh, he will decline fast and hard imo. Chychrun isn't worth giving up what they're rightfully asking for in the Flyers position. Dumba mayyyybe but not exactly known for his D. Carlson, hard pass with age and contract.

The funny thing is, all of those guys are capable of being top pairing guys, in which we have 1. We clearly don't draft well enough and no one at the top of free agency that's available is worth the money, i.e. Klingberg. Manson i bet you can offer a little more, or even an extra year, and he would go for it. Chiarot is a dependable top 4 guy and can be thrust into top pairing minutes when needed. Him and Provy would make a good pairing if he isn't moved. Dumba also, very solid, can play top pairing minutes, has offensive upside and not a liability in his own end.

People said the same thing about Pronger as you said about Carlson, a true, big, number 1 dman who can play in all situations, at 32 years old, would immediately turn the d around here. Could play with Provy and slot everyone back to where they belong. That would have a huge affect on team D as well as helping out the goaltenders.

Chychrun is worth what he is worth, but if the little extra is a prospect or a mid level draft choice, who cares. By signing Torts and TDA, and now waiving Lindblom, they're going for it one way or the other. These are your options.

I think you underestimate just how stupid Fletcher is but that’s not either of our faults lol. Washington fans say Carlson sucks in his end so that was my logic for that.

I am really trying to stay grounded with Fletcher, even after his two overpayments, in which he failed to see what Risto was and for TDA. Time will tell on TDA, he is a premier PP guy and that was one of our biggest weaknesses, i can't fault going for him. If the trade was a 2nd for his rights, i wouldn't be upset, if he added a 4th, still prob wouldn't be, but all 3 of those picks seems like an overpay.

The biggest blunder was re-signing Risto after last year. It remains to be seen if he can ever be part of a stable d corps as a 2nd pairing guy and a PK guy, with a stable system in place that plays to his strengths. We really haven't had that here the last couple years and he never had it in Buffalo. I would've liked 4 ish mill per year for him, average price for a 2nd pairing guy, hopefully that extra million doesn't come back to bite us.

I completely understand what Fletcher was trying to do last year with Ellis and Risto, it's unfortunate that Ellis didn't work out, but he really fleeced Nashville, even with Ellis only playing 4 games. Patrick had 2 more points than Ellis did last year, and Myers was healthy scratched and has already been traded. On the hope of Ellis playing alone, that trade was worth it.

He has this offseason to show he can turn an underperforming and injury prone team into a competitor. He better use whatever he can to get rid of JVR and sign a marquee FA. I wouldn't accept anyone less than JG or Malkin now. I really don't care at this point about assets, the 2024 first round pick won't mean anything to us until at least 2028. If this is their direction, go 10000%, don't do it trepidatiously. If that what it takes to get rid of JVR and sign Gaudreau, then giddyup.
