What I hope goes down tomorrow

Created by: TDruga1400
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 12, 2022
Published: Jul. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sign JT Miller to an extension along with Jarry, plan to move on from Dumo next year and be able to play POJ on his natural side when Dumo leaves. Losing Geno is not the end of the world but they should really put getting Miller as a priority over anything with that being said. Miller can play C but getting a C in Strome to center him and Rust/Rakell is the best case scenario. We do not NEED to sign Marchment but he is probably the one player I really want the Pens to sign so i fit him in there.

*if* the Pens do trade Marino as part of a Miller deal, I think they still need to move Pettersson or Dumo to fit POJ in the lineup. you’re setting him up for failure at RD

100% agree with Marchment being a top target, especially given what his projected contract is. I’d also like to see Sonny Milano if he ends up costing too much

I totally agree it is setting him up for failure but when he played this season they weren't afraid to throw him on the right. I really hope they do not but I can see them doing it.

Zucker is going to cost more than a 3rd for a 5th to move. That cap hit is going to cost Pittsburgh at least the equivalent of a couple of 2nds unless they're retaining salary.

I like what you here. A lot. I would make it a bit more realistic by trading pettersson instead of zucker, then not signing Erod.

This would let POJ play the left and Ruhwedel play the right while Friedman is 7D. I think you would have about 2 mil in cap space so if you wanted to upgrade 3RD or 4LW you could

He’s on a 1 year deal I don’t think it’s as bad as many people think for a team that has no chance of contending and needs to reach the cap floor like a Chicago I think a 3rd is reasonable. He’s not this terrible useless player as well just no spot for him on the roster

Dream on

I understand it may not happen but what part of this roster seems like a “dream on” scenario? Genuinely asking

Kassian at 3.25m for 2 years cost a 2nd, a 3rd, and 29th OA to 32nd OA.

Zucker is 5.5m for 1 year. Doesn't matter if you don't have a spot for him, he's a cap dump. 2 2nds is going to be the cost compared to other cap dump trades.

Seattle doesn't need Zucker to reach the floor, they're signing players tomorrow.

I think they would say Hextall making a series of good decisions is the “dream on” moment. He gets a ton of hate, too much imo. I am waiting until after FA to form my opinion on him - he hasn’t had enough moves to get a fair grade either good or bad but he definitely will in a few days

I’m glad you asked. The Miller trade and signing Marchment under 4 mil. In addition sending Zucker to a lottery team and only including a 3rd
