Why would MT do this? He's locking up for max term and max earnings on his next contract. If Flames somehow convinced him to take only a 3yr deal, it would come with a crazy AAV.

I think Tkachuck will now want to also be traded with Gaudreau leaving.

Flames can not let Tkachuck walk for nothing next year......Better to trade him this offseason if he does not agree to long-term extension contract with Flames.
