Yeah I think the Romanov move was to secure the 2nd pair LHD spot, so I don't think NYI are on the market for a dman. Their d-core looks good. I was more arguing theoretically where Muzzin would fit. If Muzzin is healthy, there is zero chance Romanov would play ahead of him though.

JT Miller to Sportsnet
Lol I think Rangers kind of over value their prospects (every team and fan base does- I think they are just a tiny bit over that), but I don't think they would put Lundkvist in a Miller package. No way they do it for Pearson. And they shouldn't. That player does not get you that back. He's worth a 2nd Rd at the max. Besides, I don't think NYR can afford it, either is the player worth taking up cap space in the future with how their signings could break down.
Also, good luck getting that for a rental in Miller. That's more than the Grioux deal, and that was Florida giving up too much.

Depends on health. A healthy Muzzin like the one in the playoffs is not close to playing 3rd pair mins. He's right next to Dobson and it's an elite top4 in the league. I would say top five. Rounded with the Mayfield bottom pair and it's the best backend in the league.
Besides the point though. I like Bailey as a player. But if that's the rate to add upfront, leafs better off keeping Muzzin.

Canes just not the type of team to trade for a Wheeler. He doesn't fit their style of play. They made one move to possibly sacrifice some team play for having that high-end scoring they have lacked in the playoffs. But they did it for free. They don't seem like a team that is going to make a habit of acquiring those players. And they most certainly wouldn't do it at this cost.

So many issues with this, not even worth addressing. But a note to op and others that do this. Chychrun can't play his off-side. He randomly did it for a few games last year once his name popped up in trades (clearly a strategy by Arizona) and he was awful at it.

Your first mistake was listening to Dangle for anything leaf or cap related. And this trade is not close.
Trade Bratt to the Leafs for Muzzin and Robertson and a mid pick.

I agree with you this trade does not make sense, and I think Tkachuk should cost a ton, but it might not play out like that. If Tkachuk does not show any level of commitment to the flames- maybe he just signs his QO-and the player indicates to the trade teams that he will test free agency, what team is going to pay a high-end price? I could see a 1st and prospect for him as a rental for a contender, especially if flames retain. But I don't think it will be more than that.

DUBAS MAKES MORE MOVES TO GET IT RIGHT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TML_Tika</b></div><div>What are you talking about.......Holl is not even close to be substantially better than Stalman and you will realize this when the Leafs trade him in the next 2 months.
You want to keep Kerfoot.......then you are keeping a good player who never performs when it counts in the playoffs......Only a fool would go into a NHL season without a 23 player roster which includes a 7th dman and 2 extra forwards.</div></div>
Lol Holl very much could be traded. I would personally trade him. Again, since it must be tough to read, if you are going to hold a $2million dman as your 7th (which is just stupid cap management), than I would RATHER IT BE HOLL OVER STRALMAN (I put it in all caps for you my boy). He definitely is better.
Lol again, KERFOOT OVER PEARSON. Would also move Kerfoot, but not for another middle six guy at the same cap hit. Lol reading comprehension is tough out here eh?
Every contending team goes into a season with a non 23 skater team. Especially ones like Toronto where the AHL team is 10mins away. It makes zero sense. It could mean adding a better, higher salary player instead, or at minimum banking the extra cap space.

fitting in ZAR without any trades
I would love ZAR on the Leafs, but he can't play the 2nd line. 100 out of 100 plays will die on his stick. Engvall is light years better offensively. In the context of your team here I would put Engvall on 2lw, run the defensive/forecheck line as ZAR-Kampf-NAK, and if you can take the pr hit and don't want to sell on Kerfoot, I would have him C a kids line (if they can break camp). So any two of Robertson, Steeves, Anderson, Holmberg, etc.
Also I'm actually in the small minority that likes Holl, but unless you are moving Sandin in a trade, you have to trade a dman to fit him on a 2 yr term. I think he probably signs an offer sheet before you just signs his QO. Move Gio to his off-hand.

Because of Campbell and Mrazek leaving? TO had the 27th ranked goaltending last year.....and was 40 points better than the 5th place team in their division. If Murray and Samsonov are even just average, that's an improvement.
In closing. TO will challenge for the division lead and presidents trophy in all likelihood.</div></div>

This is awful. Firstly, Holl is substantially better than Stralman. That's not much of a debate, just watch the two guys play. So if you are going to hold a $2million 7th dman, it might as well be the better guy. Would also rather keep Kerfoot if this is the exchange. More versatile and a better PK player. I don't get running a 23 player roster and I don't get signing a player to $1million+ and he's on the bench. And good luck if that's your 2nd pair. Teams are going to run through them in the dzone. Go look at the wild numbers the big dmen were getting at UFA today. Not a single one of them is as good as Muzzin.

What now Alvin
I like Pearson, but that deal makes no sense for the leafs. The two players are similar enough, and I think the cap hit is about the same. If Leafs trade Kerfoot, it will most likely be for picks, and they probably get a UFA. With this trade they probably stick with the guy they know and like.
