Now there is no doubt this team isn't as good as last year as it stands right now. One thing for sure is every team in the Atlantic division that missed the playoffs last season has gotten better.

Well that is how it generally works. The good teams, or the playoff teams are usually up to the cap, and they probably have a locked in core. Non-playoff teams should have a ton of cap to get better, and their core is usually on a different cycle. But it's easy for Ottawa and Detroit to get better. They were bad last year.

Toronto was 42 and 41 points better than Ottawa and Detroit last season. Do people actually think TO is going to drop enough, and those two teams are going to gain enough to close that gap? 40+ points? 20 more wins than either team. TO is worse because we lost Mikheyev? Because of Campbell and Mrazek leaving? TO had the 27th ranked goaltending last year.....and was 40 points better than the 5th place team in their division. If Murray and Samsonov are even just average, that's an improvement.

In closing. TO will challenge for the division lead and presidents trophy in all likelihood.
