Given their contracts, I wouldn't trade Foegele for Brown straight up, let alone add Puljujarvi and a 3rd!

Foegele v Brown

Brown scored at twice the pace that Foegele did last season while playing on one of the worst teams in the league. Meanwhile Foegele was casually playing on one of the best offensive teams in the league.

Don’t even think Ottawa would be interested in Foegele. He wouldn’t play ahead of Formenton - Pinto - Joseph on the third line. Even Puljujarvi… Edmonton’s been frustrated with the lack of interest but you want to send him with a 3rd and a likely 4th liner for Brown.

Clearly you didn't click the link I posted. Foegele scored at the same pace as Brown this season. He's also physical and goes to the blue paint, two things Brown doesn't do.

Brown was never asked to crash the paint or throw the body, the way Ottawa's roster was built there was always someone else to do that. He brings other skills to the table. His proficiency on the penalty kill should be more than enough to offset the lack of physicality.

Maybe I'm not reading the card right but first assist/60 and points/60 seem to be very different. Regardless, 26 points in 82 games vs 39 points in 64 games so 0.3ppg vs 0.6ppg. I'd take a little less physicality and a 50 point pace vs someone who will throw the body a bit more and only score at a 25 point pace.

The market has been set - Brown is worth a late 2nd. That's it. This was a large overpay.
