Weak D. NY say no. And Drouin says no to 3mill 3yrs. Maybe 1 yr bridge but not more than that. You know Tavares will ask for similar money as Ovie. No way Kuznetzov gets less money than Oshie. I'm sorry but I just don't see this happening unless you trade Backstrom or Kuznetzov for JT. And I have a feeling NY doesn't want Backstrom. I like your bold moves though

Well to the Weak D Niskanen and Schmidt have been solid and Chorney also has been when he has played. Bowey and Siegenthaler are rookies that I think will do well in the NHL. And why would't the Islanders accept that trade? A first rounder, a very good prospect, and Burakovsky who can play very well as he proved in the second half in the Pittsburgh series.

because the isles dont want to get guys who have the potential to pan out when they have a top 10 forward. and youre trading burakovskys RIGHTS, a prospect who hasnt done anything in the nhl yet, and a late 1st in a weak draft. imo isles say no 10/10 times.

That's a lot but i still don't think it would take more than that to get Tavares ... but that defence needs fixing ... sure, Ovi AND tavares, but in my opinion it would make more sense without the Drouin trade, as that is not an NHL defence, but that's just my opinion.

Exactly. NY has an Elite center. They're not willing to regress. Especially down the middle.

The time is now for the caps. The D is not good enough to get past the second rnd ...again. you're underestimating Tavares. His a poor man's Crosby. Which is still better than most centers. JT can make the players around him better. You don't need to go after Drouin, he's not gonna accept that offer IMO anyway.
