Now the Flames don't have to overpay for a good goalie. Hell, they can even eat both Stajan and Bouma's contracts, though they could also try to spend big in free agency.

This year is unique with expansion there are many "second " goalies available and still many UFAs. No need to give a first rounder.

Seriously, that is a massive overpayment for a career backup and a 4th or 5th D. As a Flyers fan, I hope Mason goes out west because I know he's going to come in and shut us out every time he plays for his new team. He's a UFA and is going to be looking for a spot where he's going to get the lion's share of the work. CGY seems like the perfect fit for him and you won't have to overpay because of his performance during the first half of this past year.
