For clarification, are you a Leafs or Flyers fan? I'm assuming Leafs because it seems you made a lot of these

Or we could just trade some of our young D anyway and avoid getting caught with our pants down if either of those teams back out. Drouin isn't going to happen for Carlson because Tampa is cap strapped anyway. What's the point of going through a division rival middle man?

Yeah, no. I'm with Nate. I get that Carlson is probably a #2 on most teams and that Mojo is better than Schenn, but there's no incentive for the Flyers to take this deal. We lose what's going to probably end up being close to 6 million dollars in cap space which is going to be really important when we're re-signing the young D, lose a key part of our PP1 that Mojo isn't going to replace, add to our glut of NHL level centers by trading a wing for one, and lose out on G's probably replacement that is going to be cost controlled for seven years. You think that the Flyers wouldn't have been more aggressive if they were in a win now mentality? You think we would have stockpiled the amount of D prospects we have? If Homer or Clarke was the GM, this trade probably goes through. Not with Hextall though

What is Tyler Myers worth?
Eh, getting the #2 pick really lengthened Philly's timetable. They don't have to win now because we have potential replacements for all of those who will be aging or old by the time they're ready to compete. #2 will probably net them G's replacement and Jake and Simmer are really just entering their primes. They could be phased out though by guys like Konecny and Lindblom. The Flyers really don't need Myers either because they have Gudas and Myers who are both RHD that are up or will be up very soon and Ghost is a killer when he plays his off side. On top of all of that, they already have one 3rd pair D (at best) making 5 million. Don't need another one.

I liked neuvirth when he was here, and i especially like that hes cheap. Probably adding to get ghost, maybe the other one of baptiste/fasching. Not sure what to expect from ghost, which year is the real one? Fact is, we would not be giving up much and it could be a real nice move. I really liked murray, but he was all out of low risk moves like this, pysyk/kulikov probably got him fired, a new gm like botterill has a couple mulligans to play with.</div></div>
His play driving metrics were better this year than last, his shooting percentage cratered. That's to be expected when your a rookie D that comes in firing at 11+% when the league average for D is around 3-4%.

I think Vecchione will be the 4th line centre though, I have high hopes for him (if being a good 4th liner is that high of a hope).
I wonder if Weal and Lindblom do well and Konecny takes a step forward while Rubstov gets closer Hextall might consider moving Simmonds (painful though it might be) for a ransom to restock the cupboard as we embark to perennial cup contending years - gearing towards that '2nd phase'.</div></div>
Eh, none of those guys currently/could play RW well enough to push Simmer out except Konecny and he'd have to take some major strides. He's good, but he's not even close to Simmer good. Rubtsov will probably be in Lehigh at this point. Unless he blows the doors off the Q next year, I don't think he has the resume or experience to push for an NHL spot.

A Possible Solution?
Lol to all of those trades. Barrie for Kredier straight up? No shot. COL needs defense, not another LW. Not to mention that Kreider doesn't even come close to Barrie's value. Surprisingly, you have the Rangers getting fleeced in your Minnesota trade, but there's no incentive for Minnesota to acquire another center while giving up a young, cost controlled RHD. Staal is awful and the secret is starting to come out about just how bad the Rangers D is. Grabner is ok but not nearly enough to land Eberle. Same thing for the Klein trade. Klein is brutal and is definitely not enough to land a young, former first round pick and a third.

They'll have the cap room but not the roster room. Right now, they have Leier, Laughton, Read, Weise, Bellemare, Vechionne, Lindblom, Schenn, Couturier, Cousins, and possibly Colin McDonald and Vorobyov either locked in or vying for a bottom six role.

For THAT Price?! No thanks (my dream scenario Habs team)
Hard pass on the Flyers trade. They don't need any D so Petry and Davidson are off the table. Hextall already said he's going younger with the D and that means bringing two of our D prospects up (probably Hagg and Morin) They don't need any more bottom six talent, so Shaw is out. They currently have about 10 guys fighting for 5 spots in the bottom six. We don't need a goalie prospect so Fucale is out. Sandstrom just backstopped Brynas to the SHL finals and Carter Hart is poised to win his second consecutive CHL Goalie of the Year after taking home his second WHL Goalie of the Year. Stolarz is more than likely NHL ready and Lyon is ready to hold down the fort in the AHL. Why would they give up an alternate captain, who is probably the best net front presence and has probably the best value, non-ELC contract in the NHL, AND a second round pick to shoot themselves in the foot four times? If you're giving up Gally for that, then there is something to discuss.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Yzerman would get tarred and feather if he did that. Stepan is a low end first line guy, but Staal is terrible and Gropp is not a high enough caliber prospect to overcome that. The picks would be late making them pretty irrelevant because NYR would be adding by subtracting here, assuming that Lundqvist can hold up.

Seriously, that is a massive overpayment for a career backup and a 4th or 5th D. As a Flyers fan, I hope Mason goes out west because I know he's going to come in and shut us out every time he plays for his new team. He's a UFA and is going to be looking for a spot where he's going to get the lion's share of the work. CGY seems like the perfect fit for him and you won't have to overpay because of his performance during the first half of this past year.

Don't get me wrong, Gaudreau could slide on the top line, as we lack dynamic top line talent. I would be shocked if Hextall pulled a deal of this magnitude after he has preached patience and building from within. Sanheim and Myers are blue chip prospects who haven't even played in the NHL yet. Add in the 1st/2nd and I think it is too much for Johnny Hockey.</div></div>
I don't think this deal happens either, but again it's not just for Johnny Hockey. The OP also included a 26 year old top pairing Dman on a sweetheart contract who goes by the name of TJ Brodie.</div></div>
Why give up two guys who have top pair potential on ELCs when they have the chance to draft a dynamic forward too? It's not like the Flyers completely lack guys that can play on the top line. Plus, with Myers and Gudas gone, the Flyers would have no right handed Dmen and that same situation led us to trade JvR for Luke Schenn.

Top 4 defenseman? Lol, Staal is terrible. Just because he gets top 4 time doesn't mean he's top 4 quality. AMac gets 20 minutes a night for the Flyers. That doesn't make him a 2/3 defenseman.

2017-18 THIS WILL HAPPEN
If we re-sign VandeVelde, I might go ballistic. If we do and we give him over 1 million dollars, I'm starting a riot. It's bad enough we gave Pebbles a two-year deal when he's already 32 and not effective. VdV is worse. I also don't think Hexy would be inclined to go the route Carolina did and field such a young defense. The team obviously likes the AMac-Provorov pairing for whatever reason so I think we're in for another year of that at least. Sanheim and Myers together in Lehigh probably to start the year. I don't think we see the full youth movement on D until 18-19. If anyone gets dropped down and Hexy wants to ice three rookies, it'll probably be Manning

I hate the fact that he whined and complained his way out of CBJ so he could play with Richards in LA. I respect Marchand, Lucic, Perry, and Buff for their talent. They're all world class players. I also know that pests still have their place. I am one tbh and I've been called the dirtiest player in whichever league I was in multiple times. I hate Buff because I'm a Flyers fan and he was a big reason why CHI won the Cup in 2010. The rest are all dirty, from Marchand submarining the Canucks and Lucic spearing a Red Wing in the junk. Perry is just a scud.
I don't respect Wilson and Tkachuk. I'm still out on Tkachuk just because he's so young. It was a big reason why I hated Subban when he first came into the league and tried punking Mike Richards. Wilson is a joke. Biggest tough guy in the league, at least until Simmonds is out there with him. He doesn't bring anything but a big body to the table. I know the Caps are trying to turn him into an effective PK guy, but I'll believe that happened when I see it.
