Created by: CaptJosef
Team: 2017-18 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: May 4, 2017
Published: May 15, 2017

Description
Flyers move for Duchene and can ice 4 skilled lines as early as next season. After that Patrick / Hischer replace Filppula, Myers replaces Manning while Rubstov transitions in the AHL, and there's still $8m+ to re-sign Morin and Hagg who won't get much.

Colorado gets another 1st round pick for2018 and the prospect defenseman they're after. They also get decent player in Raffl, and two young forwards who can contribute in the bottom 6.

wouldn't do that personally. Don't like the idea of giving up top prospects and picks for one year of Duchene since we won't have money to resign him unless we move Jake which most people are reluctant to do..

I am not really big on Duchene personally. I'd would rather keep our young assets/draft picks and let forwards like Rubtsov, Vorobyov , etc. come up.

You'd have Duchene for two years at least (he's signed for 17-18 and 18-19). I think that just the extra depth / skill is worth it plus then the team would be super deep at centre going forward (No.2 pick, Couturier, Rubstov, and Giroux) esspecially as Giroux declines over the rest of his contract. The depth means you could move someone like Simmonds or Voracek for decent pieces as those prospects come through to keep re-stocking the cupboard.

possibly, but what if Duchene walks as a UFA in two years? Rubtsov is already moving to winger in juniors so chances are he doens't play center in the NHL. That leavs us with an aging G, Coots, and the #2 pick which is still unknown.. pretty shallow at center so what's the point of giving up a potential top-2 defender and a 1st rounder for the guy..

Possibly Sanheim never works out, or our 2018 1st round pick is a bust, Simmonds could just walk in 2019... The chances of Duchene walking would seem low on a team that would (should) be competing that spent the assets to acquire him.

I don't doubt that Duchene has skill, but a part of me feels like he doesn't bring the compete level every night.
