Trades
1.
CBJ
  1. 2024 7th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
SEA only gives CBJ a late round pick in 2024 because this is a cap dump for Columbus.

As we have witnessed with CAR and SJS, the price to get a 20+ goal scorer with 1 year remaining on their contract is "Future Considerations". So, Columbus would be lucky to get a draft pick in return for a cap dump.
SEA
  1. Bemström, Emil [RFA Rights]
  2. Nyquist, Gustav
Additional Details:
Nyquist: An offense-oriented, non-physical, veteran winger.

Can play on any line in SEA (Top 6, Bottom 6, PK1/2, PP1/2).

If SEA is out of the playoffs at the trade deadline, Nyquist could be a valuable asset to trade.

Bemstrom (Rights): A, young, non-physical, goal-scoring, winger.

This trade gives Bemstrom another chance to make a team's Top 9.
2.
CBJ
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (OTT)
  2. 2025 6th round pick (CHI)

I'd much rather keep Bemstrom if it's possible; I really do think he's going to be Bjorkstrand 2.0. Certainly wouldn't go for signing De Haan in his place.

I only traded Bean because he has a good contract with easy money to move, and could be apart of CHI's rebuild.

Another Big Body Defensive D-Man. In this scenario, Bean is an easy contract to move and create roughly $1M in cap space to sign Laine. Like Jarmo said, the Blue Jackets don't have a problem scoring, we have a problem keeping the puck out of our net.

So Bean being traded makes sense to you?

I can live with losing Bean. Part of that is that we have the defensive depth and I'm not as high on him, but the bigger, far more important bit is that his value is still generally apparent. Bemstrom's isnt, as is evidenced by the number of AGMs that treat him as a cheap throwin or even let him walk. So that's a move we could easily end up regretting.

Fair enough.
